M95 is good for some situations, but L96... it's a dream weapon %) It led me to a ~550 position in sniper rifles category.

Whats truly lame is that the game designed Sniper max range is only a few hundred meters. And that a good follow on comment is "use your pistol to finish them off". People over at Barrett must be crying of the laughingstock this game has made their product niche. Sniper rifles in the game are utter nonsense.

well, because if they used the real distance, it would be ridiculous. The longest recorded kill with a sniper rifle was a mile and a half.

Have to agree - I mean the scopes don't even have any tremble! I would glady have ''real, accurate'' sniper rifles if they had some sort of trembling. Especially with the M95, it's massive nobody could hold that still if standing and shoot an accurate shot. It wouldn't be perfectly still whilst prone either. Bipod or not.

yeah its so great, takes no skill now to get a one shot kill, guess thats why 40% of people are using them now instead of helping with the flags.

The plane whores love them too because they can snipe their teammate then jump in the plane of the poor sap they just shot. If I see that happen I can't help but return the favor if I can. I did it yesterday on Oman. The round started. I jumped in a tank by the MEC airfield as 100 losers ran for the two planes. I hear BOOM, look up to see the offending teamkiller jump in the plane. I just couldn't help myself. I shot his plane with my tanks. I got the teamkill but I felt like it was worth it.

well I dont think we need "tremble" on well populated servers it is very difficult to hit a moving target becouse of the LAG. singleplayer is a good exaple of that... my accuraty is single is around 70-80% I guess...

No skill now to get a headshot? Sorry mate, have to disagree with you there. The sniper rifles now have the accuracy they should've had from the start. You can still miss, and I think the current trend of seeing more snipers will die down a bit, especially once the 1.21 claymore nerf kicks in.

I've played a fair bit of sniper, and it can get a bit annoying on some maps at present when you see a quarter of your team is now running round as snipers and ignoring the flags, or the tank that's raping the spawn etc.

When I play sniper, I do try and help the team - cover squads capping flags, counter enemy snipers etc. If I notice that we have too many snipers, then I'll often re-spawn as whatever kit is needed, cap and defend flags - just depends on how the game's going.

Err, anyway, back to the topic. I loved the M95 when I first unlocked it, although there were numerous times when the seemingly random hit/miss would drive me crazy. Still don't understand why they haven't reduced the thickness of the crosshairs. The L96A1 is my weapon of choice at present, mainly because it's as good as the M24, with thinner crosshairs, and I can use it regardless of what team I'm on. If I'm playing a map where I think I might be able to get some shots off at choppers, then I will change to the M95.

See lol the situation is totally the opposite of that.

Headshotting someone at 200M with a sniper rifle while running...that takes skill....

It used to be more random and less accurate so if i was headshotted, half the time it was because of LACK of skill.

Do you mean are there different zoom levels for the scopes of the sniper rifles in BF2? If so, then no, there is only one default zoom level for each rifle.

I find that I have more success with the AWP than I do with the Barrett too
Then again I am not much of a sniper.I never play the class unless it is needed, like countersniping.

Have come across that myself, I was playing the US side and spawned as a M95 sniper planning to be a co-pilot in the F15 when I saw a teammate get into the F18 and promptly got teamkilled by another M95 user who took his place. Seeing this annoyed me so I shot him out of the seat and within a second of doing that another M95 sniper got me through the back of the head.. we fell like dominos

With a team like that, who needs the enemy?!
