    EA Downloader --- Error:7049:0

I've just received my dl code of EuroForces, and was looking forward to pre-load it. None of the patches or games on the list are downloadable to me. I get an error message every time.
I tried EA Phone support, but they appearently charge 50c/min. and they drop you from the line if they are busy. There is not even a queue so I called the more expensive game support line which DOES have a queue. And got an attitude by the support dude right away. "Unfortunately he couldn't help me, and I should call the other number" the number I was dropped from all afternoon, and appearently all lines were busy... Where the recorded voice just says "thank you" then hangs up the phone. Said thanks for nothing and hung up...
Is this what EA calls customer support?

Thought I might be lucky and somebody else experienced the same problem because I honestly don't believe that EA will have a solution for me... After my first encounter with their support system, and with the way they handle support calls I am not sure if they really care.
Sorry to rant, but this is really a bit too much for me...

wow, three view in 45 minutes (was probably myself...)
Is it the topic title not attractive enough? Or just nobody having a clue?
Maybe I should name it HEEEELPPP PLLZZZ the next time for more hits...
I guess I might as well stick to the EA support.

Found out other ppl had similar issue with installing SF over downloader. But could keep clicking ok and the download would continue.
My download doesn't even start even though it states that the download is ready.

          EA = no customer support.

          Try re-installing EA Downloader.

Try again after the game is released, and if it STILL doesn't work, then we can start trying to help you out.

It's kind of ridiculous when you think about it. "I purchased a code that is not released to the public yet. I tried to use a downloader to download this unreleased game with this code, and it's not working."

Hey guys, and thanks for the kind replys.

Salad, I thought the same thing, and assumed that the DL was not made available yet. Maybe I wasn't clear in my post but the problem is it happens with all the files that I am supposed to be able to download. For example, when I try to download the patch or the patch update it gives me the same error. That's why I figured it had nothing to do with the unreleased game.
So I don't know if it's really as ridiculous as you stated in your post mate.

For the webbrowser; I use Firefox 1.5 primarily, and have IE6 is installed. I red about the IE7 problems and they do not apply to me.

I also reinstalled the application numerous times. No effect what so ever.

Thanks Sharp, for pointing me to the other topic with the related problem :)
Thing is, this guy actually got an Error message, where I just got an error number without the message. Also the number after the error is 7049:0 for me. He has a :600 instead of a :0 (zero)
I also don't even get close to 65% of download. I cannot even start any of the downloads. As stated not even the patches. So in my opinion this is not a problem that relates to the delayed SF release.

                  DisturbedOne97,
I wasn't shown any address to which the downloader tried to connect to.

                  cheers

                      negative, no desktop firewall.

                      edit:
Will try to install downloader at the office, and see if I can dl it from our corp. network.
Will also have to try to find a way to burn it on CD so that I can take it home for installation in case it works.

                      edit2:
I downloaded and installed EA-Downloader to my workstation, and I get the exact same error message, and I'm also unable to download any content through the downloader here at work.
So the problem is not related to my PC at home i am now sure.

Reinstalled the whole package (BF2, and patches, downloader) a few minutes ago, and gave it one more try. I even tried installing on a freshly ghosted OS with nothing but the drivers, and BF2 installed, but still didn't work.

Oh well... I might just not be meant to play EF

Does anyone here know if it might be a problem with the downloader login name? Because I have two different login names for the downloader, and the game. I assume it doesn't matter, but maybe somebody here can point me in the right direction.

That does not seem to be the issue. At least I should be able to download the patches via the downloader right?

And if EA made a mistake, and many people got EF dl code delivered too early, don't you think that at least an official statement from EA's side should be made?
Just to clear up things, and let their customers know what's going on?
It would only be polite, and professional towards us their dear customers.
I also don't like it when I buy something, and don't get what I payed for. Makes me feel kind of abused and somehow dirty. They could at least let us know whith a pop up messaage in the downloader that EF is not available to us yet, even if stated differently, and many people were able to download it.

Tbh, I have the feeling that I will still not be able to download and play it once it is officially released...
