    Video Settings Automatically Change?

I don't have the fastest computer. I know this. So in order to get the biggest amount of fps I can, I try to run BF2 on the lowest possible setting. The graphics suck compared to most, I know, but hey, it gets 'er done.

My question is this: have any of you experienced the game automatically switching your settings from low to high or vice-versa? In some cases for me, I've left a server on low video settings, found a different one, and then come to find out, my video settings are on HIGH. My computer starts to lag and I get a noticable drop in fps. But even when I leave the server and check my settings, they're still on low.

I don't know how consistent this is - if it's server-specific or if it's just a glitch that re-entering the server will fix. I was just hoping someone out there could shed some light on how to avoid or fix the problem for me.

Sometimes it looks to me like my settings have gone down from medium to low, but the options still show it as medium, so i then have to turn the settings to low, load a map, then turn them back to medium, its annoying really

Are you running the latest version? Plenty of people have complain about lag post 1.2 when connecting to servers.

Yeah, in fact it's even worse with 1.2. It was a rarity before but now it seems to happen quite often. The weird thing is I don't have the "optimizing system settings" that you normally get when you change video settings.

yeah, I always hit Apply after I change settings. BUT - when this problem occurs and I check my video settings, they're still on low, even though I can tell in-game they're on high. It's beginning to sound more and more like a bug to me.

I know I keep asking easy questions, but sometimes BF2 says that you have to restart the whole game in order to apply the settings. Are you sure you've done this correctly?

That's okay - I'd rather get simple suggestions than none at all. But yes, I've tried restarting the game and that usually seems to help. The tricky part is that the video settings change on their own sometimes - for example, just switching servers has caused the video settings to change. Nothing was done to the video settings in between. Maybe some servers have it set up so everyone who is on has to have the same video settings? Is that even possible?

Happens to my friend, just switches it to every thing on high for some reason.
