Another crash to desktop

Hello all yet another crash to desktop thread.

Does anyone actually know why all of a sudden BF2 decides to start crashing to desktop.

I am now on my 3rd reinstal in the last month because all of a sudden on morning BF2 decides it isnt going to work anymore. I played on it fine all yesterday evening and when i boot up thismorning i get as far as the login screen it attempts to contact server then boots me out.

Last time i got booted out as i tried to connect to internet games but could still play local and singleplayer mode.

I just dont understand what has changed between last night and this morning as i doubt (infact i know i checked) my drivers have changed themselves overnight so why has it done this again.

Thanks for your help if you can as i refuse to call a premium rate number to be told to reinstall it again

Maybe check your firewall to allow BF2 to connect to the internet. I find doing this manually helps with the crashes.

i thought i had already what port does bf2 use and i'll clear it

A quick idea for you, not sure on your specs, but I was having similar problems, went into bios, and reset memory to default memory timings, and now I have no crash to desktop issues.... weird I know as my memory is stable as hell. will be getting in touch with corsair, and giving them a piece of my mind, probablyy the piece that I lost whilst trying to track this problem down :S grrrrr
