Okay, as many of you may (or may not) know, BF2 "miracle patch" 1.2 has casued me more problems than it has fixed. I've cursed, I've sworn to **** on EA, and many other things.
After about 76 hours in total, not to mention the 6 total restores, the PC swap, the 43 (Yes, that many) complete reinstalls of BF2, it's working. Yes, I promised to eat my hat - but I can't find it so I'll have to pass on that one.
Anyway, it seems someone finally came into EA and thought about it. He suggested trying the patch in Safe Mode. So I downloaded it via EA Downloader, and got it ready for install. Just cancel it when it gets to the actual install screen - don't try going any further. Then, boot in safe mode. Navigate to wherever the installer is:
Run it. It'll take longer because you're running in safe mode (apparantly). Anyways, should work from there no problem. I got the invalid CD Key message, but if the patch works for anyone who can't get it to work, then they get the Invalid CD Key error, just message me or search the forum for the solution. In fact, it's a sticky, so you'll see it right at the top.
.. I still don't like EA though.
