I have been using a keyboard to fly since day one. and its not that hard slow down enough for the flares to wear off then attack, then try to gain speed and altitude with afterburner, if done right before stalling, you are safe.

Ive doen this a million times.
Its pretty easy.
Just pick the heli and do a wide turn to give your self distance from him.
With a joystick, which I find easier to do this, drop the throttle to 75% and slowly nudge it down little my little. Its the same trick you do if your actaully going to hover.
Just like doing a hover you get to that almost hovering point and then hold down after burners and pull up, and be gone.w

The only time you should try to use missiles on a chopper is when it's on the ground. Then pound the **** out of it with your whole salvo since flares don't work on the ground. If it's in the air use your guns, it will get ripped to shreds really quickly.

Yep I agree with you Unununium, should never really have to use missles against choppers as guns work better and reducing your speed too much makes you vunerable. Besides its best to save missles in case you spot a jet.

If you are engaging the target at long distance you should have plenty of time to gun them down, meaning reducing speed so they flare then firing unrelable missles is not the best method.

On the other hand, at closer ranges where you might not be able to gun them down or have enuf time to re-aquire a lock, you can be gunning them in bomb mode and switch to missles at the last second dumb firing a couple at point black range and pulling up just over the chopper. If this is executed correctly you should have done enough damage to the chopper for one missle to make it catch fire.

i only use guns to kill choppers and can kill them ~90% of the time on the first pass. I usually fly past them at full speed noting their direction and possible destination, then turn around and come in around 700 kts, start firing once I know im lined up perfectly. As a helo pilot also (i rarely get shot down by a jet) it is extremely easy to avoid jets trying to use their missiles (which miss most of the time anyway)

It is ****ing noobish and I HATE this tactic. As a plane whore myself, I fly at full throttle ALL the time and NEVER use missles on atk choppers. I only switch in to misle view to see where they are.

Same. Giving them a lock on just lets them know you're coming and gives them a chance to evade. It's best to surprise them when they're sitting still.

there not sidewinder missiles...
also, real life jets can fly that slow easily, its not that noobish of a tactic. A good chopper pilot who sees a plane coming can easily move and dodge machine gun fire

I would love to see jets actually go as fast as they go when throttle is 100%, but have like 0 manouvrability at full speed.

Me too. I'd love to see them all go flying off the map boundaries and die. :P
