yeah mate, I'm getting major lag in SF, I have probably only played it once since the 1.2 patch. Guess I'll just play Vanilla until 1.21

I rarely get any bad lag... afew spikes every now and then but i would say 98% of it is smooth sailing

I have tried refreshing the filter with nothing checked but can't access any of the other servers because of different mods or versions. I run Bf2: SF with the 1.12 patch only b/c the 1.2 patch is screwed up. Nothing else. I only found 3 populated servers out of 34 today.

i get a lot of lag in the beginning of each new server round, in Bf2 its nothing at all.. irritating because i always get shot by an enemy during this lame ass lag. But life is life..

I think I've played all of the SF maps, and the one that I got the biggest FPS drop was on Iron Gator.

i can't believe that map is still in rotation. didn't every server removed Night Flight and Leviathan (as per EA's advice)? i hope admins do the same with Gator...

that is so true, i got 2gb of ram a week or so ago, and i've been loading faster, and havent got start lag anymore, and i glad i bought it

I had bad lag after the patch, but fortunately I had ordered a new comp (which arrived on Saturday) and now have no lag.

Old:
2.6 GHz P4
1.5 GB Ram
ATI Radeon 9800 Pro 256MB
was getting ~25 FPS in BF ~18 SF (often down to 15 FPS in either)

New:
AMD 4400 (Dual Core)
2 GB RAM
SLI with 2 Nvidia 7800GTX 256 MB
~90 FPS BF and ~60 FPS SF (have only played on a couple of servers)

Lagged all weekend, to the point of uselessness. some servers were better but still had problems and the problems with your connection suck!!!!!

i have not played SF in over 3 weeks b/c of this. it kind of suks b/c i like the maps and the diff armies and i was going to go for the diff ribbons, but oh well

How much RAM do you have?

Back when I had 1 GB, both games were equally laggy with the exception of that one SF map where all the flags were on the carrier--that map was unplayable.

After I upgraded to 2 GB (back in January), all lag disappeared in both games, all maps.


Stilla-Killa, it's odd that you are saying things are worse after the 1.2 patch since I thought they added some static mesh optimization code specifically to address this lag issue. Go figure. (<--- rolling eyes at DICE)
