Using the full 1.2 patch to increment

Can I use the 357mb 1.2 patch to upgrade from 1.12 to 1.2, or will I need to download the incremental patch?

Just download the incremental. No need to download more than you need to.

I already have the full version patch downloaded. I know that what you said seems like the obvious answer, but the situation is complicated.

I think you can use the full patch to upgrade also.

Of course you can use the full patch. That's what a "full patch" is; you can upgrade from any version with it.
