Speeding loading time?

Does anybody have any hints or tweak, to speed up the loading time, when joining a server?

SOmetimes it takes like 5 mintues waiting for all of the textures and stuff to laod, then Verfying files. Theres gotta be a better way

Here are my specs:

P4 2.8Ghz @ 266Mhz
1GB PC2100 DDR SDRAM
Radeon 9800 Pro

How did you get a 2.8 Ghz with a 266 FSB? If that's a new chip i'd be mad because if you have an 800 mhz FSB i beleve you'd have a faster loading time. Not much more i can recommend except a fast hard drive. I'm using a Raptor HD made by western digital which is fast. I use it for music production and speeds things up with games as well.

My rig is similar to yours:

P4 3.0 Ghz 800 Mhz FSB /w 1 MB L2 cache
ASUS P4-P800-E Deluxe motherboard
2 GB OCZ 500 Mhz DDR2 RAM

Like the last guy said "Get more Ram" for a quick fix. All i can help you with bro, gotta get in game.

How long does each section take (loading and verifing?)

More RAM won't help the verifying part.

Increasing Page file though this doesn't help in all cases.

And most importantly - DEFRAG. You may or may not notice a difference but I defrag once a week and notice the difference in loading times - no placebo.

More ram should do it pretty easily. 2gb is what you want for bf2 as it's pretty hard on the old memory. Set your graphics settings as you want them, exit the game go to my documents/bf2/mods/cache (think that's the right path, i'm at work so i don't have bf2 installed, more shame!) delete the file/files in there, load the game up and enter a server allow everything to load up then exit the game and defrag, not only should this help your loading times but it reduces the stuttering you get at the start as all the textures are loaded into memory and the game should run a bit better as well. But get more ram definitely, it's cheap and easy and it will definitely improve your loading times

I have only 1gb of ram and it has increased my load time from my 512 ram.

I have noticed that BF does take SO long to load, perform an action when I click and calm down after the first spawn.

I'll give the defrag a go as I dont think its anything else in my system causing the slow down.

I have a Vienna 3800, 2GB cas 2 ram and a 10,000 RPM SATA drive.

The only thing that bugs me about BF2 are the rediculous loading times, oh, and the regular CTD or invisible reboot key.

I hope the defrag helps. :)

I only have a 7,200rpm oem fujitsu siemens hd, and 2gb of oem ddr2 ram but I usually spend a good minute on my own or with just a couple of other players at the start of a game. Not sure about this as I didn't time the loading times with my old x550 card but the x1800xt I have in now seems to help, suppose the speed of loading will have increased due to the fact that the card has more and faster memory??? Anyone shed some light on this? I might swap back and see what happens. The defrag definitely helps though.

i tried raptors in a raid set up and WOW and oh my god it was quick!

But i didnt try it on this rig as im happy with the speed it is at the moment!

But 2gb ram is a quick cheap fix. If you want to by a raptor and be prepared to be blown away!
