    New trend in stat padding?

Ever since BF2 expanded their rank to include officers, i noticed stat padding has increased. Specially, clans are stat padding to get "expert" badges or achieve general rank.

    Has anyone noticed this?

Since rev 1.2 i have been playing Sharqi alot. This also seems to be the map of choice for people trying to earn their expert badges.

Clan members will sit in the AA Platform game after game at the far MEC base (where the APC is located and people rarely ever travel to). I asked a few of the people doing this what they were doing and they said they were working on their expert AA badge.

The other day i was playing on a smaller sharqi map and 9 of the players were on the same clan. they were on different teams but working together to earn their expert explosives badge.

What makes me mad about this is the later example, both friendly and enemy clan members were shooting at my chopper. They were also shielding each other so when i attacked the enemy soldier (their clan member) i also hit a friendly (also a clan member) and thus i eventually got booted for excess team kills. It mad me mad cause the entire MEC team was on their clan, thus one of the few 24x7 sharqi servers was void of game play.

Anyway, here are the clans i see this occuring with. All of them mentioned they were working on their expert badges.

    1. GGF
    2. HKD
    3. GAK
    4. HBD
    5. GF

    Anyone else notice this trend?

welll, as long as the enemy was fighting back.. i dont think you can call it "stat padding"... but since they were shielding tehir foes from bullets, in this case id say that you're correct.

I have not seen this trend, personally I do not care if people do or if they don't. I cannot help but notice that it bothers you to a great extent. Dont worry so much, concern yourself with your own progress. Leave the cheaters to punkbusters and admins.

I wouldn't go so far as to call it stat padding, though I would no doubt be frustrated if a fraction of my team was deliberately being useless. :p

So if an enemy is blowing things up and while a friendly stands by to repair those thing, and they do this over and over without shooting each other (even though they are on opposite teams and are standing 1 feet from each other), that isnt stat padding?

Also when their enemy clan member is under attack, they all huddle together (friend and foe) to shield him from your attack?

I usually dont care. But, there usually are only two sharqi maps that play 24x7 without alternating other maps into the play. Unfortunately, these stat padders are picking this map. Which makes the game play useless, especially when they also take the commander position.

To be honest..I never really noticed any stat padders until recently..and now I've seen a few.

Funny how past patches have included fixes to discourage stat padding, yet it is still rampant.

              Losers...

Why does everyone care about what others do? If that is going on and it is ruining the game on that server then change servers. I know I have earned every badge/ award Ive gotten and Improud of that. I dont care that some other schmoe didnt...who cares? Just knowing I earned mine makes a better person than them.

Why do people care? Because it's cheating.

Why don't you play on other maps? seems a bit silly to me.

I havent noticed it because I havent been playing on crap servers. Seriously the ammount of people the complain when it there own fault in the first place for playing on that server.

Find a good server. Stats padders, TK'rs. Ive seen mabye 3 in the past month.

You can't just tell someone to go change servers, there ping might be best on that server, or they enjoy playing there, really it never bothers me people stat padding unless its affecting me in some way.

What the first guy posted isn't really stat padding, its more just unsportmanship, its not obtaining the badges the legit way its taking shortcuts etc, call them noobs or whatever, the fact you need to realize is that you won't get rid of them so just adapt.

thats the kindergaten mentallity that brought this guy here to post this when he shouldve spent this time just going to a different server as some one suggested. grow up kiddies and stop crying about what someone else is doing that you hate so bad when there are hundreds of other servers you can go to.

Re: New trend in stat padding?

I think ea almost encourage stat padding, especially with the high ranks requiring expert badges and some of the expert requirements being so far removed from the possibilities of 'normal' gameplay.
It does of course depend on your definition of stat padding, sitting in the jeep in the water for repair is, dropping thousands of claymores isnt- it seems. Yet in both situations you are playing solely for the benifit of your stats- to pad them out.
EA tempt fate by setting certain badges beyond what is realisticly achievable in the game without a player deliberately playing for the stats. It would be less of a problem if they did away with the crazy IAR points requirements for knife, repair etc and made them a global requirement- eg total of 1000 knife kills or 3000 repairs. That way they still arent easy to get, require more dedication to get them and encourage players to use various kits/equiptment generally rather than half our knife fests we see to day. It also serves to help eliminate stat padders as it makes it such a long term project that it would potentially take days rather than minutes for padders to see any new award appear.
But its deffinately true that you will see people now sitting in aa scoring 0 points/round just because they need the time stat, even tanks etc. It is an odd thing to do but it would take you forever to naturally get the aa time required or TOW time in otherwise.
EA created the stat padders are arent humble enough to have a five minute think about the problem.
