Ranking system is ridiculous....

First take a look at the ranking system, and how much points it takes to get each rank here:

Now, on with the discussion. Don't you guys think the ranking system is ridiculous?! Look at how much points it takes to get higher than a seargent. I mean, someone would have to be playing all day long to get past 20,000 points....

How much points, do you have, or what is your current ranking? I am working for seargent,and its taking forever!!! Im at 1800 points, and am trying to get to 2500....

After I finally make it that far, i dunno, if I can make it to 5000...(for the next rank). I think EA should tone it down a bit.... like make it 20% of what it currently is.

It's already been watered down twice now. If you saw what the original rankings were when the game was first released you'd reliase just how much it's come down.

Just to give you an example: The rank you are currently after 'Seargent' used to be 25000 points, the next rank 'staff seargent' was 50000 which are now 2500, and 5000 respectively. So they have come down ten times what they originally were.

When EA/DICE doesnt update stats for entire weekend periods, it makes it even more difficult... Hell, I would say it is damn near impossible when your stats don't even get recorded.......

Yeah it's hard and I agree, especially since I play so often. But I started just this past October and I've got about 100 hours logged in after tonight's rounds, and nearly 80 of those are from this month alone. So I haven't really been playing as much as I thought I was. And even though I got my account in October, I didn't start playing online till two months ago or so. Now I play all the time and the hours/points come pretty quickly. My goal for the weekend was to get 5000 and two hours after getting that I played two awesome rounds and now I'm at 5500 just with those two rounds.

You really do get better as you play, and that means you'll get more points. Also, once you start caring about your points, you'll play support rolls and get even more. If you stick to a squad that has at least one medic and one AA, you'll do great. When I'm a lone wolf I get maybe 30-40 pts. When I squad up I get 60+. A really good squad can get you over the 100pt mark .

I've gotten 4000 points in one month of playing BF2 for about 3 hours a day, I have 90 hours logged in one month.

i think its a great system though, for an online game ofcourse

The jump to 20,000 didn't bother me, it's now with the new ranks that First Seargent to Master Seargent bothers me. It's a 30k point gap and then a 10k point gap to 2LT, then 15k to 1LT, 15k again to Captain and so on.

Let me guess, you just got the game and it seems like the ranks are sooooooo hard to get. I suck at the game and don't play much and I'm getting close to 20,000. Rank doesn't mean anything in the game anyway, it just gets you unlocks. Don't play the game to rank up, play it to have fun because it's a game.

Actually, I got the game in the first week that it came out. I stopped playing for a very long time though, because I don't really know why... I think I just had so many other games in the past couple months I forgot about BF2.

I also hated how EA does business, and how the game was when it was first released. Now, Im getting back into, it, and the only reason I want to rank up, is for the gun unlocks...

Can someone please tell, me that I get a gun unlock at 2500 points? And then another at 5000?

Yes you get one at every rank increase from now on (up to the 50,000 master/first sergeant - the last one)

The ranking system will be in place for all the BF2 expansions so i guess most people will get all the unlocks eventually, keep at it buddy and dont dispair, the guns are not "upgrades" as such just alternatives and some are pretty dire anyway if you ask me


As for the person taking about the stat server problems on some (all?) weekends - The stats will ALWAYS update in the end they just take many hours/up to 3 days sometimes in extreme cases, even if it shows you as private again in game the stats log on the PID and catch up eventually.

When you start out it does look like a huge mountain to climb but as you improve it will get a lot easier to rank up, over time your score per minute will go up a lot which means its not so bad :).

i still think the 20K-50K gap is ridiculas since the next rank is at 60K (10K gap, compared to 30K on a lower rank?
