Black screen when game starts

I have been trying to run both BF2 and SF and when I start the game up the splash logo appears then the screen goes black, but the game does not start. I havent played bf2 in a long time due to hurricane katrina, so i just downloaded patch 1.12 and the incremental patch to 1.2 yesterday. Also before I dled the patch I was able to play SF in single player but I had no sound. Anyone know what could be causing these problems? Im thinking about reinstalling and just getting the 1.2 patch instead of the incremental.

Any help is appreciated.

Same here mate, looks like EA again.....

I'm not even sure if the patches took effect.

That is the same thing you see if you happened to have a ***** patch in place, then tried the put the EA patch down on top of it.

Maybe thats what happened, because SF installed a patch when I installed it. Any way I can fix this?

Well I'm not sure how but its finally working now.
