We were hacked. Several times over the past two weeks, in fact.
While all passwords are encrypted and salted, it's recommended that you change your password here when you can.

Ok, here's the deal:
When you first log into a server, it checks your requirements to rank up 'n stuff. It doesn't re-check until you re-log. If you were to stay on the same server, you could hit 30,000 points and still not get your rank.
The next time you log into any ranked server and score a single point, you will get your rank and unlocks.

It took my account a bit over a day to react as well. I was counting the points to 20000 as well. I was at 20250 or something when I logged in and saw that an unlock had come for me.
I got 20,008 points, checked in BFHQ that they had registered, disconnected from the server I was on, then re-connected.
Hey presto - 1 kill and tatatatatata (drums)
To get the unlocks I closed down BF2 and then when it loaded again tatatata (more drums)
I only got Master Sgt though so just did a mad 64 player Karkand to get basic knife which I did... but still haven't gone to first Sgt despite having all the basic badges

You have to forfill the requirements before you ranked up. You can only rankup once per point bracket. You have your 20k rank. You are stuck with it.

No way! If I had known that I would have done it 5 minutes before hitting 20k and not 5 minutes after!! It wasn't hard to get basic knife so now I am kicking myself for not getting it before.
