maps like Ghost town require quite a bit of moving from rooftop to rooftop and most effective way for a sniper is to get up high and then zip to an adjacent roof , easy to get 2 or 3 just to get to 1 location and if you die then there's 6 times straight off to get back.

I don't mind if a commander is in the middle of battle fighting or if he's hiding back doing his job... I don't even mind if he takes longer than he should with the abilities... but what I've seen are commanders who either fight with absolutely no UAVs or other suppot at all... or they sit back hiding at the base and don't do their job as commander... no UAVs or anything... none... and the last game I saw it happen, the commander was even grayed out all game and yet he didn't get kicked or anything... and i saw it again today... a guy was commanding and wasn't UAVing or anything, but he was fighting and it took half the game to finally mutiny him out... i think he may have just been retarded though because he was fighting and any smart person would realize a UAV would give you an advantage while fighting around a flag

Yeah, I have only seen this once. Guy walks away from the computer after he becomes Commander. Just sits there and gets TeamKilled lol.

I have only recently been playing Commander. It really is just common sense. Constantly scan the map, place UAV on enemy flags, bomb the hell out of them (and I am not talking about bombing the uncapped bases with runways), and drop supplies on your own flags.

When I play as the Commander, I never engage the enemy unless necessary. I always find a safe spot at the main base away from the radius of enemy artillery. It really isn't THAT hard to do lol.

i have been noticing a lot lately at least on the server i play on that a lot of lower ranked players like lance corporals or corporals are almost always a commander. and they are always flying a plane or in a tank and not commanding at all. i guess they think it is easy points or something and can help them rank up quicker. it has gotten kinda annoying. i guess the higher ranked players just don't like playing commander? i know i don't care for it.

I thought when Commanders did things like repair, resupply and heal/revive that they counted in his global score? They certainly don't show up as points in that game, but don' they globally? Kind of like the way you can get kit badges for having a certain number of kills IAR when you play Commander and the only kills you get are from Arty?

No, you don't want to do this...I command quite a bit and if possible, I never move during the entire round. I go to a safe spot, open up the command screen and give it my entire attention.

After they read it, they should put some of their time in as CO too. If we had knowledgeable people each doing their part we wouldn't have to gripe anymore about bad commanders.

The zip-gas-grapple is stats padding matey . Might not be affecting anyone else but it's the same as the old resupply while a matey is throwing nades in fresh air.

I'll agree with the first statement about stat padding but the second one about resupplying a teammate while he's throwing grenades is way off... you're helping out a teammate.

I think this is true because I received a engineer medal while a commander after fixing my assets several times. I recently started commanding and I really enjoy it. I am impressed that people can fight and command at the same time. Commanding alone takes up most my attention, especially when my assets are intact. I will wander and try to cap flags, repair, fight if my assets are down or in control of the enemy.

I hate commander mode period. If someone plays it, I am either spawning in to Arty or getting TKed by it, and yeah I see the big red mark but when theres 40 people at one base you just don't arty it. Then theres your carrier and main base arty. Just annoying. Some commanders only care about they kills and score. If getting a high score means artying just one person then he'll do it.

No plays it like DICE/EA intended it to me. Squads aren't used nearly enough as they should be. Commanders often drop supply boxes for their tanks, and thats all they do other then UAV the area they are in.

However there are a few good commanders who take advanage of the VOIP and will help the team. Other then that its just like the new Anti Aircraft some more to whore.

As for 'kiddies'. I can't tell you how many times i'v been in a server or read on this forum of someone trying to degrade others by calling them a kid. Infact I don't think you can call this whoring. Its there for anyone to apply to be but at the same time its there for 'anyone' to apply. So any idiot can be a commander. Just like any idiot can jump into a plane or helicopter and fly it into the ground. In my opinion thats whoring and being pure idiotic. Practice flying on an empty server don't just rush for the plane or helo if you can't fly. If your not planning on using commander mode DONT PICK IT, but they will everytime.

Do any of you actually know how the commander score gets counted up? They don't get points for capping flags/healing/repairing etc.

The commanders score is a function of his team's score. If you add up all the player's scores on your team and divide by the number of people on your team THAT is the commander's score. Then x2 if your team wins.

^^^ I think many people miss that.

Therefore, a commander that is capping flags etc. is only (in effect) taking points away from himself, because he is not allowing his team to get the points. Sure, arty kills are added to your global kills, but you (as commander) are not given points for them.

Some commanders only care about they kills and score. If getting a high score means artying just one person then he'll do it.

I guess what I'm saying here is... Throughout this thread I've seen people ^^^ referring to the commander "whoring" for points, when it is actually his teammates that he depends on for points. Sure you can get badges by sitting in MG's/repairing stuff, but you don't get points.

every other game i play now seems to have a ****ty commander on my team... i don't know if they're just retarded or if they're point whoring... all i know is that they don't UAV or anything and they don't leave the base... they just sit there and die and i can never get enough mutiny votes to kick them out... and they're commander EVERY game... it's like they're just point whoring and leaving the game on while not doing anything to get free commander points... there should be an autokick thing for idle commanders... i can be commander, but i'm sick of it... i have expert commander already, so it's pretty much worthless progressionwise since i don't get any team points for it and it will just hinder my progress towards other badges... and i'm tired of babysitting teams... it just ****es me off... i don't care how bad a commander sucks as long as he listens to my requests and can UAV the right areas... and bonus if he can spot enemies.

I kind of do this as commaner but I'm active. I camp in a base and throw out UAVs, supplies (on request for the most part), and artillery. Reason being is that if you are commander and fight you take points that people could get and the higher the score of the people on your team=the higher command score you get. So yeah, i do camp in the base but i will do stuff.

Some people don't seeem to understand what I'm saying. I don't care if a commander hides and does his job or even if he fights and does his job. I care when a commander becomes commander just to go AFK and he'll gain commander points from his team doing stuff and he doesn't have to do anything. He won't UAV, artillery, supply drop, or anything. He just leaches off his team for points and doesn't even play the game and it's too hard to mutiny him and he won't get kicked. If someone like that is on a good team that wins, he can get gold stars for doing absolutely nothing. That's whoring.
