Need help with model import/animation!

Right i made a gun in gmax and i can get to see a silouete of it in the "object viewer"

But when i go into "animation editor" i drag it on to the window and nothing happens.. no error messages or anything

Also there is never any soldier to aligin my new weapon to...

HELP ME PLEASE! I NEED HELP!
