Re: Pls help : which are the necessary processes?
wtf?
You mean task manager? No ones systems the same. Just google the names of each item and it'll tell you if your system needs it to run or if its just another program hogging power. Some are ovious, eg logitech or msmmsg. some are very well hidden like quicktime which i still havent identified.Comment

Turn off anything that is listed under your Windows username (Darren).

Unless you have some sort of trojan that likes to use up alot of cpu'ness this wont benefit your system that much. Whats making you ask this question in the first place Silver Dust?Comment

Re: Pls help : which are the necessary processes?
if u want to turn them off for good as in it stays off after u reboot, go into control panel-> adminstrative tools -> services and go from there...each thing provides a brief description and if u still dont kno whether its not important, then google it....but..if ur REAL lazy...i tihnk u can download a program called gameXP and it will shut off a bunch of services that u dont need like indexing service....but if u have time...take a look at tweakguide's XP guide and it gives u a list of services that u prob dont needComment

Re: Pls help : which are the necessary processes?
Don't remove any processes you use for your mouse, joystick, or other devices. For example, I use a Logitech MX 518 gaming mouse, a Logitech Extreme 3D Pro joystick, and a Belkin Nostromo n52 game pad. All three of these have background processes that allow me to assign keys to the buttons.
Guys...cut him some slack. If he knew how to do it, he wouldn't have asked!Comment
