Patch 1.2 not working

Guys/girls,

Need help!!!

I installed the game (BF2) and when I try to update it with the patch 1.2 it failes halfway the update and returns to the windows screen.

I tried: installing the game in the safe mode of windows. Also to update in the safe mode.
I tried: downloading the patch of different sites.
I tried: first update with patch 1.12 and than with patch incremental 1.2.

System:
ASUS A8N-SLI deluxe
ASUS 7800GT
1GB memory
1 Maxtor harddrive (saving for the second one)

I'm not offerring any help, but I am in the same exact boat as you. I have also tried everything you listed. I have contacted EA Support and all of their responses include to install BF2, then BF2 SP (which I do not own), then the patch. I am wondering if while installing SP that it upgrades some files that is causing the new patch to fail because I am not upgraded to that level.

Doesn't work with SP either, it will patch to 1.12 but than the incremental patch doesn't work!

yeah i had the same problem, then i finally managed to get it working. I downloaded the full patch tho. What i did was, i disabled my internet security and my antivirus

I installed new patch and it aint working - it says patch failed. I have un-installed everything and started from scratch. Can anyone tell me in what order I should install the games (BF2 & SF) and their respective patches? Also, if someone has the link for the full version of the new patch I would be grateful! Help this is doing my nut as it worked the first time but even though I updated PunkBuster, it would not let me on to any mulitplayer servers as it said I should revert back to my previous version without un-modified content. HELP HELP HELP

EA Support said to install
1. BF2
2. SF
3. Then the full patch.

This after deleting all files in temp directories and creating a new admin user and installing with that user.

I have yet to try installing under a new user, if that doesn't work I am going to give up.

the 1.2 patch had some problems. If you havent heard yet, there making a 1.21 hotfix patch that will solve the problems. It will be out soon

How much hard disk space do you have left on C drive?

Its definately not an issue with hard drive space - still got 80Gb left. Will try re-installing tomorrow now as have had quite enough tonight. Thanks for your hep guys - i'll be back tomorrow to let you all know how I got on. lol

I have WIN XP media center addition on a Dell XPS Gen 5. When I enter the game it says I am at 1.12xxx. I also have the SF expansion pack installed and patched to the latest release.

I get an error while installing both the 1.2 incremental or full patch that says I need to be at version 1.12 before I can install 1.2. I installed the 1.12 when it first came out through the EA downloader app. However the downloader says "ready to install" next to that patch even after installing it without errors. I tried reinstalling 1.12 and all went fine (no errors) but the status in EA downloader went back to "ready to install" and of course the 1.2 patch gives me the same error that 1.12 needs to be installed.

If anyone has a fix for this issue please advise. Thanks for help and great work on this site!

Grrr. Just tried installing BF2 - Then SF. It says patching failed! Do I have to do BF2 then a patch - and then SF? Any ideas?

Ok, so I have sucessfully installed BF2 & Special Forces. Now it wont let me patch the game. I have the full patch. What is going on? I have disabled all Antivirus & Internet Securities...

Managed to download full patch from a different site - seems to have installed correctly, just gonna try it now...
