For All People With Dual Core...

Hi a friend of mine told me a dual core would be a waste of money and im best off getting a normal AMD processor like a 3700 or something around those lines... they said the dual core does not run effectively on the dual processors and therefore have to change the settings so it just uses one processor which you have to apparently do every time you run Bf2.
They said when running with both processors in use it begins to create lag and connection issues with battlefield 2 and therefore is not fully effective.

I was just wondering if anyone has a dualcore processor and plays bf2 and would like to know how it is performance wise as i was thinking about getting An AMD Dual core 4400+ but my friends comments put me off a little...
    Cheers.

Don't be scared. Get it. I haven't had any drop outs to desktop since 1.2 patch (I actually like the patch). Performance on the 4400x2 is great.
    Have fun.

I like my 4400+, especially running it at 2.8GHz and higher.

I have both of the cores in use and haven't had any problems with the game. If you have the money, go for a dual core. :)

The only thing you need to do is be sure to patch the AMD drivers. They can be found here:

I have no slow downs on normal apps. I load CS2 pertty fast;.

I think what he needs to realize is that he will be using only one core for games. He isnt going to see twice the processor power with a dual core. A faster single core is currently better for gaming but this will be changing in the months ahead for sure.
