Fraps

Hey guys and Gals.


Ive noticed that when i record a video using fraps the sound quality isnt great. ive only tried it on BF2 but it nearly always sounds muffled, and although clear, it isnt the same as when i play it.

but the odd thing is sometimes its perfect, just like in game! i have EAX enabled but i cant see why the quality changes. what am i doing wrong?

any ideas?

its driving me nuts.

I'd also like to know. When I was making my own movie (I used Fraps exclusively), there were clips where the sound was garbage and others where it seemed quite good. Most of it, though, I ended up doing manually, using the game's source files. Quite a hassle ...

I think it depends, in part, on the nature of the sounds and the quantity of noise. The more noise, the worse the quality tends to be.

Might be something to do with the FPS1 codec. You're probably better off using third-party software (Audacity, for example) and synchronising the audio and video components during the editing phase.

Sometimes fraps gets retarded and either records crappy sound or none at all.

Thanks for the replies.

I use a head set sometimes, and i also use the 2.1 creative speakers i have sometimes.

I have a creative audigy 4 sound card which is pretty good as far as i can tell.

in the creative consolse, it doesnt seem to matter if i have the audio set up to speakers or headphones, both seem to be poor quality on fraps recordings.

ill try anything. (to do with this issue:))

Fraps isn't free (PM me for teh free full version) but no other program comes close in functionality, resource use, usefulness and ease of use.

He didn't say Fraps was free he asked if there was a free program like Fraps.

my settings for fraps r default. I have the audio set to 'what u hear', the res at full size, and the sound device as my SB Adigy 4.
