Guess what, the ATi fix may not be coming in the latest hotfix

I was talking to a EA_UK guy over on the BF2 forums about the performance regarding the latest patches and what not, I asked him about the ATi problem and he had this to say:

'The ATi issue is being addressed however I don't currently know for certain if that will be included in the upcoming hotfix.'

I just reinstalled bf2 demo to see if i to have problems

And well Im not to sure right now but the whole game seemed to run 2 times better then the final bf2.

I didnt play bf2 for a while when 1.12 came out I had lower fps but wasnt sure beacuse didnt know what i had before and i upgraded so didnt really know if it was my computer or what.. Now 1.2 came out and i still have same fps so i thought something wrong with my computer but when i played the demo it seems to run sooooo much better

And all the bugs 1.2 are gone :) The AA is even better then it was in 1.12. its not great but I did get 4-6 kills on some helis

I have a x1900xtx and my fps right now in 1.2 drops down to 30 At any settings its like the same min fps. Avg is higher at lower res but the min is still the same. But with the demo I was always in the 80-100 at 1200 res 6aa lowest it got was still 30 something but it didnt drop at it more then once. Avg low was probably 40-50+

EA must of really screwed the game up

i heard of the ati problem but thought it was only for lower/med range cards?

Which is what most people are running, Most people cant afford X1800/X1900's :)

i did see someone post with another x1900 saying he had bad fps after patch

That's worrying. I just bought a sapphire x1900 xtx....

I have an x1800 and after the patch i dropped from a constant 90fps down to 35 ish. Last night i played for about 5 minutes on about 80 fps and then it dropped to 15 and stayed there.

What OS are you guys with the problem running?
I know someone with win2k and a nvidia 6800GT with the same problem.

some Windows 2000 peeps can run it but the game says it can run on Windows XP OS and not Windows 2000, so the Windows 2000 peeps have problems of their own

Windows 2000 has no trouble running the game, but it won't run the EA Downlaoder :)

bah humbug, spend more money on ya pc and less on ya pizzas boys, there is a problem with everything if u buy enuff garbage, buy good stuff = no problems. someone will always whine

That's ridiculous. Even the best new hardware in the world can still have problems. It may even be more likely to have problems if your hardware is newer than your software since the software may not have been tested on that hardware. People here are having problems with some of the newest ATI cards available, not just old stuff; how are they "whining"?

What is the issue with ATI cards, all I hear is dropped fps. But that is for all cards for some people. I haven't noticed anything weird or performance drop. Can someone enlighten me?

Ive spent about $1200~ on my PC in the last 6 months, every patch I have had to put the settings down every further!

btw..the biggest problem with lower end ati cards is that the buildings dont show up and with that...you get 1 fps (seriously), but a solution has already been posted (its long, but works!)
