Just a quick thought.
If I want to get the expert knife badge in a round, I do have to play with the knife pulled out at all time. Why isn't this considered stat padding? This is not normally how I would play the game. I do this to get the badge.

That isn't stat padding at all. That's just going specifically for a badge, nothing wrong with it. It becomes stat padding if you're doing it with other people. If you have a friend on the other team and you meet up to knife one or the other, that is stat padding. If you play on a server with just knives or pistols, that is stat padding. But playing with just the knife against other players who aren't, well that is just brave, lol.

i dont think its stat padding cause your going for a in game goal that ea/dice set up. now if you get 20times the number of kills with that your either really good or stat paddin.

As others noted, EA doesn't consider it padding. If you believe in teamwork then you shouldn't play in a way that is bad for the team just because it gets you a badge. Whether it's bad for the team is sometimes hard to judge but I can almost guarantee that spending the whole round using just a knife or a pistol is not as good as using your primary weapons. Veteran pistol is easy to get properly if you play a class without long-range primary weapons (AT/Engineer). With those kits you normally must use the pistol at medium-long range.

I got my vet knife badge along with my basic at the same time. It was hard. I had something like 110 knife kills, and then lucked out. I would wait unitl your way a sergent or something before starting at it. Just practice it once and a while. I started to get mine when I was new and got killed all the time. This forever messed up my stats, and they are bad.

no knives in RVS thou. Pistols only was always fun, just mac10 the suckas instead - still counts as pistol :p

True that... except if the server has machine pistols turned off (the only way to fly!).

I've been in a few pistol/knife only servers. They didn't actually advertise this on their server name though.

Everyone in the server just got bored so we all agreed to it. You know what? I got my basic knife badge off of this! wOOt! Everyone else was going for their veteran pistol badge.
