Game Not Running on Startup

Hello, im very new to these particular forums (first post/thread) and i just recently ordered a new monitor which i read to have very good picture in Battlefield 2. After recieving my order today i tryed to run battlefield 2 on my new monitor and the first box which has a tank and says Battlefield 2 (looks like Strike at Karkand) on it will work but then after it takes over the whole screen becomes black like its going to run then it just closes and doesnt work. i tried reinstalling it to see if it was the fact i had a new monitor and still it wont even open pretty much. i can even get to the EA part or anything without it closing. i was wondering if there was a fix or it could be new monitor that is causing the problem(other steam based games are running fine)

my computer specs:

AMD 3200+ 64 bit
Connect3D X800 GTO with Zalman Silencer 5
1 gb of PC-3200
ASUS A85X(i believe) Motherboard
120 GB Hard drive with 91.0 GB left
and finally my brand new monitor
Viewsonic VX922 LCD

Try deleting the BF2 folder in /my docs/

It isn't removed when you reinstall I don't think and it probably has the info the game needs for your old monitor.

I agree buddy, need to delete the bf2 folder in my docs then do a fresh install, also please make sure that the steam server isnt running in the background whilst playing bf2! (just incase)

You don't need to delete or reinstall anything just set your screen resolution to 1280*1024

i have had my screen resolution set to that when i tried starting it but it wouldnt run.. ill try deleting the BF2 folder later tonight and post if it works thanks for the input fellas

I've heard that this will happen if your monitor is set to a Plug And Play monitor within your display settings.

Not confirmed it myself, just passing it along.

Ok I had the same problem as you the other day when I got my new monitor. It isnt to do with having the monitor set to plug and play as I installed the drivers to get the best out of mine.

I tryed changing the resolution and refresh rate of the game in my profile but nothing would work.

The only way I got it to work was to uninstall, delete the Battlefield 2 section in My Documents and also making sure that no files were left in C:\Program Files.

After I reinstalled it, it worked fine.
