Prob. been posted before but... I'm a SF noob...

I just bought SF tonight and I was wondering exactly what I have to do... step-by-step to get the unlocks in BF2 vanilla... also, how many unlocks should I be receiving? I am a Gunnery Sergeant with just under 14k pts.

play a round of SF, then it will alert u with ur unlocks, i think u get 2-3 but im not sure

You will be "actually unlocking the guns" from your drum-roll, "You have qualified for an unlock" screen, just like you've done so far. Nothing looks different, except, as noted above, you need to play a full round in SF and get at least a point.

And--quite right--you can only use the unlocks in vanilla, although you get to experiment with them in SF, mostly as SAS, some S.E.A.L.S., I think.

And finally, as a GYSGT you get an unlock at LCPL, CPL, SGT, SSGT, and GYSGT, so that's...5 with SF and patch 1.2. Before the 1.2 patch, it would've been only three.

ok... now i'm aggravated... Got home, installed SF and can't get into any servers... it loads the map completely and then boots me saying that the server does not accept modified content and telling me to return my copy to the original specs or something. I had BF2 vanilla patched to 1.2 then installed SF... WTF?? do i need to re-install 1.2 patch?

Deep breath. Ok, I'm going to explain it to you...ready...ready...

Here goes:

What you should have done is to install BF2, install SF, then install full patch (NOT INCREMENTAL).

Why that order and why not incremental?

SF comes with the 1.1 patch built into it...so you did a "reverse patch" when you installed SF last.

Actually, you should be able to just apply the 1.2 patch again and things should go ok. If not, uninstall and reinstall in the order above.

And I'd stay away from the incremental patch. Just go ahead and apply the big one.
