I also use the Logitech 3D Pro,

but I also have a Saitek ST290 Pro that I am trying to get used too...

I got the Cybork Evo. It's damn nice. No calibration issues thus far, and their software seems better suited for dealing with calibration issues *if* it has them in the future.

I prefer the Extreme 3d feel, but the Evo has the adjustable wrist height and thumb positioning. It takes some getting used to the three thumb keys.

Overall - I prefer the feel of the Logitech. It seems to have a more sluggish feel to it that makes movement more fluid. The Evo seems a little loose, and movements are quicker with it.

But I also prefer NOT having to run DXTweak2 everytime I want to use the joystick (like I had to with the Logitech).

I even looked at the X52(?) with the seperate throttle. I think I'd prefer the CH setup over it though. The stick felt a little "thin" like the plastick would break at any moment. I'm not going to spend > $100 just to find out later I don't like it.

Yeah, I fly every now and again... People do look at me a little weird when they see my "office" for the first time, though...

I use the Logitech Extreme 3D Pro, and I play both BF2 and IL-2.

It's good, but if you grip the joystick very tightly (I do), you'll be hurting after a long gaming session. But aside from this, my joystick has been very good, no issues whatsoever.

update....
well i made a purchase.decided on a saitek cyborg evo wireless cost me £35...
nice stick however on testing it i find i cant just plug and play and cant configure in options screen..It seems i must create a profile for use with bf2, have sussed the basics but cant get ny head around activating throttle lever and twist function for paddles can anyone help me as im at a loose end..think it has me beat.. wished i checked post earlier as i almost bought the logitec 3d pro...and i gather you just plug it in and youre off

Again.. I had 2 Extreme 3D Pro's and both failed after a week, Logitech finally ended up saying some bull**** like "We are sorry but your issue is undocumented in our database".. The Sidewinder Precision Pro 2 is a simple plug'N'play joystick, I just put it in my USB slot and was dogfighting in 2 minutes.

I don't understand what config troubles you could be having?

If the joystick is plugged in, test it by using the Control Panel > Gaming Adapters and see if it moves. If thats good then load up BF2.

Go to the controls in BF2 and go to Aircraft.

If you have anything set in the secondary (right) blocks, then clear them out by left clicking the block then hit escape. Clear ALL the right side blocks. Then click in them one at a time and move the joystick to set the option.

NOTE: When you set ONE function (like throttle +) it will automatically set the opposite function (throttle -). You should set it up in this order.

Start with throttle at 0%. Click in the Throttle + space and move the throttle on the joystick to 100%. On the config page you should now see 2 commands set.

Now do the TURN RIGHT and twist the handle to the right. It should also set the turn left.

Do the PITCH FORWARD and move the joystick forward. It should also set the pitch back.

Do the BANK RIGHT (don't remember what exactly it's called) and move the joystick to the right. It should set the left also.

Then set up your fire and alt fire buttons, weapon switch button and anything else you want.

I made my Hat switch a view. Hat up = Forward look, Hat down = Rear look. When I'm flying I can hit HatUp and it's the same as hitting "c" otherwise. I get the full front view instead of the cockpit controls. Hat Down does a look backwards.

**OH if you have something backwards - like you bank right and the plane banks left - then you did something backwards in the config. just go back in and follow the correct order.

Throttle from 0-100, Twist RIGHT, JStick FOWARD, JStick RIGHT, Set BUTTONS.

joystick works fine .. its like you say,when i try try and program it 2 functions are selected for every axis on the stick eg move frward and backward are controlled by one axis on the stick

The Saitek X52 is worth the extra cost. I fought buying it - but now that I have been using it for about 4 months - I would have gladly paid double for it.

This coming from using other joysticks before the x-52. I have never used keyboard mouse for flying...ever. Always had a good joystick....but not the best...meaning the x52.

i use a fairly retro MS sidewinder.. i saw one in GAME recently going cheap. it works well. it replaces mouse for flying, use the keyboard for acceleration and wepon change.
