how many squad leaders actually use the requesting artillery button and how many commanders actually reserve the artillery for the squad leaders. IMO this feature is over looked and most commnders spam the map with artillery and most of the time where it is uneeded. also how many commanders actually let squad leaders know that the artillery is at there request.

Re: Requesting Artillery
I always request artillery, the problem is whether the commander will give it to you or not, or just try artying some lonely sniper on the other side of the map while your squad is getting raped by tanks and apcs

Re: Requesting Artillery
There have been times that almost half my team was hanging around the main base waiting for planes.. After many times asking them to go cap some flags to no avail... I artyed my own base to "motivate" them to go fight...
I generally use arty everytime it comes up and there is a nice juicy cluster for me to nuke.

Re: Requesting Artillery
Usually when i see them request artillery theres only 1 enemy there or none, so i spot for them and let them get on with it, blowing arty on 1 target is bollocks in my opinion its not accurate enough.
So I rarely get a request worth fulfilling. :p

Re: Requesting Artillery
i try and request stuff all the time but commanders most of the time dont care about the team and just arty where ever the hell they want, and they only play as commander for the 2x win.
thats atleast what always happens to me

Re: Requesting Artillery
I dont get that many requests for arty honestly. Mostly UAV and Supplies. I offer it to them many times. I often end up scanning the map and placing the arty strikes myself just to get things done.
I can't remember that last time a squad leader requested an arty strike.

Re: Requesting Artillery
I rarely req arty, and I never play commander.
There should be a "request recon" thingy that all players including commander can see, for sake of satellite scan, and good ol' fashion "walking there".

Re: Requesting Artillery
I usually have artillery request when I play, because I'm constantly informing my squadleaders when UAV, artillery, and supplies are ready.

Re: Requesting Artillery
I let them know when artty is ready and when a UAV is and for supplies i look for request or put them in a area that i think needs it

Re: Requesting Artillery
I request supplies and UAV a lot but I've never seen it as my place to request artillery. Probably because if the commander is half decent, he has scanned and smashed the landscape ahead of me anyway.
The commander can see more than I can, therefore I assume that when they artilley somewhere then it's purposeful. I see the good on everyone

Re: Requesting Artillery
#12 I agree man
It's hard to decide if arty is necessary because the action moves so fast that when the shells start dropping the enemy has most likely moved away from that spot

Re: Requesting Artillery
I have to say most times i recieve an artillery request, its not a very good one as they call it on where they see enemy troops and dont pay attention to where there team-mates are. If i followed through with most requests i would get loads of teamkills..... HOWEVER i often have artillery waiting if someone does call in a good one, as i take me role as commander seriously and find that UAV and supplys is much more important and as i have a birds eye view of the action i generally have a better idea of where to place them.
The way i often arty drop is by calling out "artillery is available" with the preset command and then when/if i get a couple of requests, call it in on the best one (if its safe) or simply place it somewhere else after about 15 seconds if all requests are no good tactically.
I also usualy use the artillery to hold the enemy in position rather then trying to simply kill them for the stats (yes it does count in your global kills) as allowing your team to cap a flag and therefore move up the frontline spawns is better then stopping them getting into an enemy base because of friendly arty IMHO.

Re: Requesting Artillery
I rarely request, but will do requests if it's available. What I need is is a preset 'Will do ASAP' command for when it's recharging etc.
