more ram less FPS

Folks,
Bit of a strange one. I put a new 7800 gs card in my p4 3ghz 1gig ram pc and ran the "hl2 lost coast" system check.
I got 56 fps.
I added 500 mb of ram
Ran the test again.
I got 28 fps

wtf??

Is RAM the same kind?? And what do you mean 500? You ment 512 right?
You using dual channel or single?

If it doesn't relates to bf2 performance, it shouldn't be in the bf2 section. There is a hardware section for this.

If you went from 1 GB to 1.5 GB then you stopped running dual channel. Increase to 2 GB (or drop to 1 GB) to re-enable both channels.

2 likely things happened

1) You were running dual channel with 2 Identical sticks of RAM, and adding a 3rd stopped that from working, might lose you something in the order of 5-10% performance.

2) You put in RAM which is slower than what you were running, meaning all the RAM is running at that slower speed, decreasing performance.

For such a massive performance drop I suspect both are true.

lol ya some thing f'ed up i have no problem with the server. i guess im not as anal as some, or maybe i just dont like it there to begin with

a bit of advice only take the prescribed amount of dosage
