Heyhey,
Foreward: If you can't dicuss the topic without flaming or keeping your hostility locked up...don't post please. Personally, I think this is an interesting situation that could probably merit a Thesis (all rights reserved) hehe.

Now that we're into our what? 3rd patch? I think everyone, EA, Dice and consumers have learnt some invaluable lessons on what to do and what not to do when patching a game.
'You can't please everyone' This should be written on the walls of the every Quality Assurance Department. Sure companies should try, but is it feasible or worse cost-effective?
For the last 6 months DICE/EA have been trying to do just that. Not a bad idea, but the reality is that some of us will hate Bunny-hoppers and others could care less.
If we go back to the late 80's early 90's...patches were non-existant. They had one shot to get it right. Often they didn't. Today's industry has the luxury or the burden of immediate consumer feedback. Keep in mind this is relatively new concept and the consumer and the developper are learning how to work with it.
Developpers and distributors want to deliver innovative, polished, complete and entertaining games....really they do, but there are a lot of variables and it's more often than not a crapshoot.
In a move of good faith, Dice/EA have successfully addressed issues like Chopper Whorin', etc...but failed miserably on key issues such as red/blue bug, CTD's ect... Trying to please the BF2 community, DICE/EA have made several modifications some good and bad to gameplay but only resulting in more bugs, more balancing issues and more whinning from the community. Personally, I commend them for their attempts, though not as fast as I would like...then again we are the NOW generation.
Customer satisfaction; an on the job training. Star Wars: Galaxies and BF2 and more to come are at the mercy of the Forums. In essence the situation is like when you date your first uber Hot chick...you try and give her everything to keep her happy yet she still walks out. hehe.
I'm confident they learnt quite a few lessons on this one and I hope as consumers...we did too. Be careful for what you ask for...(ie: Claymores and FF).
Developpers need to remind themselves that fixing major issues such as technical problems should be their priority and modifiying balancing issues such as the uber noober toobers...should be a last resort. Though...I love the weapon modifications personally.
You can't please everyone or should we say...If it ain't broke...don't fix it. More importantly...if it Broke...don't ship it.
