Simple solution: wait for them to pass you before you man the AA site then get out and away from it. Rinse and repeat until the plane is down. You could also like work together with someone else, I know it's a novel idea but on gulf two SAM's with interlocking fields of fire could protect each other. No, forget I said that of course you should be one hundred percent successful in the AA, what was I thinking?

      Or add a anti-air soldier class :)

Pilots will bomb the AA turrets just to be safe, even if nothing comes up on their HUD. So, even if you're near the AA waiting for him to pass by, the splash damage from the bomb will likely kill you. Happens to me often, I just let some other guy try and shoot the buggers down

This shouldn't have come as a surprise. I've been posting since before the patch that all it is going to do is get the really good pilots to adapt to different tactics. More people are probably flying the jets like ex-DC vets used to fly the bombers , really high and come down straight on top of you so you never see it coming.
True, only thing to do with the DC A-10, since the sound could be heard miles away, just dip down and thrust back and you can strafe their asses with your 30mm chain gun for a good 10 secs :)

GOOD pilots should dominate IMO, the problem before was that any old pilot could dominate. If you're good with AA you can take down a decent pilot with some timing and some skill

Spot the guy first THEN jump in the AA at the right time, preferably when he's moving away from you so he has no idea where you are, you'll at least get his flares off which is enough to make him retreat of leave him open to attack from another AA site.

One thing you ground troops should know:

SPOT anything you want bombed, that way the good pilots that have realized that staying out of ground sight is a good way to live, can see them on the minimap and attack quickly and go up in the sky again.

Re: Good pilots are still better than AA

You people **** me off... You get your stronger AA but yet continue to bitch. I got a lot of 100+ games last night. And do you know WHY? because ^ that is what I do, and people wait IN LINE for the AA now, and I get like 4-5 kills most of the time. And then you start complaining when we come out of nowhere? DUDE...we have a BIG-ASS-GREEN-BOX around your head. If you don't want to die, stay out of the AA until the jet is infront of you. If it's a matter of "NO because then the people waiting for it will get it"... well if there is even a semi-good pilot, I can guaruntee that AA is going down.

For the record, anyone who uses bombs on an AA.....hahaha....

All you have to do in jets is fly around taking out AA and vehicles. You people make it easier by sucking in the AA (It doesn't matter because I take out EVERY AA I pass [as in blow it up, with my machine gun])

PLEASE... stop bitching before EA decides they need a new patch!

Re: Good pilots are still better than AA

Oh and another thing, most good pilots have a button on their joystick (in my case its that "hat" toggle switch thing, and I can look behind me any time I want) that lets them look backwards fast and return back to normal. The first thing I do when I get a lock, I look backwards, whichever AA I see (and any within 200m from that) is going DOWN because you just ****ed me off. So what am I going to do?... thats right... maybe just get out of the view, go refill since I most likely need it anyways, and then I go to about 650-700 and just dive right onto your AA and blow you and the AA up.

Yes, thank you. It's the "not so good" jetjockys that are whinning the most.

I posted the exact same observation.

                    The fact is:

                    1. The range on any of the jets' cannons are vastly greater than the missile lock range on the stationary AA sites.
                    2. Any pilot who has simply memorized the locations of the stationary AA sites will fly straight at them and take them out with their cannon before the person on the ground can do a GD thing. (And this happens whether an AA site is currently manned or not - don't bother posting the worthless, "you need to be smart and not get into the aa site until the plane is closer", advice - unless the jet pilot is a complete fool, he doesn't care about whether or not an AA site is currently manned, he will destroy it, from out of its range, regardless)

                    The result is that:

Versus jets piloted by someone who has memorized the AA site locations, the stationary AA still has NO chance whatsoever. They AA site will ALWAYS be destroyed from out of its missile lock range by the jet's cannon.

Re: Good pilots are still better than AA

I'd say that the enhanced AA in 1.2 does TK a bit more than the older AA. I tried to shoot down a blackhawk with AA yesterday. Got a lock, waited for flares, locked on again, fired. My missiles travelled towards the blackhawk which happened to get killed by a friendly tank before they could hit. So my missiles had noone to kill anymore. What did they do? They started circling above me in a cyclone pattern (made 3 or 4 circles in a matter of 5 seconds) "seeking" their next victim... which just happened to be a friendly SU-34. Bam! 2 TK's.

I was playing Wake last night, and there was an awesome pilot owning everybody. What he would do was when he got locked on, he would corkscrew straight upwards directly above the missile platform, and dive bomb it. I never had fought a pilot like that in the pre-1.2 patch.

Didn't I already solve this issue? Did no one read it? Did they just skip over it not seeing the obvious genius behind it?

...ok, well for those of you who skimmed. I'll repeat myself.

"The current solution to the A.A. problem is to add 'Mobile Anti-Air' to every map with Jet, Helo, AirCraft on it. Mobile A.A. takes 'skill' to use, which seems to be the bigger argument coming from the Pilot end of the spectrum. Mobile A.A. is also equally matched against a Jet, which seems to be the complaints coming from the Anti-Pilot part of the spectrum."

It's the perfect counter balance. If ya' put air vehicles on a map, put the "GROUND VEHICLE" designed to stop them. Simple, done, over... any questions?

Re: Good pilots are still better than AA

This is really getting ridiculous. People complained before because there was no good way to take down a plane. That was true for the most part.

Patch comes out and the pilots complain that they are taken out too easily. AA is too strong and jet to jet combat is over too quickly. Ground pounders rejoice.

The good pilots don't whine and adapt and they still get their kills. Ground pounders once again whine that AA is useless and the planes get too many kills.

                                AMAZING.

What people need to stop and realize is that there are people who play the game that are actually better at it than them. Some pilots you'll take down no problem and others will take you out no problem. Get used to it.

I played both on the ground and in the air last night and did just fine. The balance is great at this point.
