Is that laptop good for BF2? It has a GeForce Go 6800 and 1 GB ram. Besides, it's under $1,500.

Would I be able to play on all medium on it, with decent FPS?

Hmm the video card and ram looks good. BUt the processor looks pretty iffy taht will bottleneck you ram and videocard best I know. And will prevent you from getting full performance out of your card and ram.
I have a pentium 4 2.66 ghz 6800 GT and 1 gig of ram and it plays on all high except for textures and texture filtering I put at medium at higher resolutions. Ive played it at 1600/1200 but not tested it to much because my power supply is kaputs.

Yes, but I'd buy a seagate 7200 rpm drive separately and install it myself in addition.

You could stick the old drive in a ext case or sell it.

Edit: yeah upgrade your proc...

Sometimes you can find dell laptops w/similar stuff for cheaper but not everyone likes dell.

You should check out the Dell XPS laptop. I hear that there is a 20-30% off coupon floating around on the internet somewhere. It might actually give you more computer for the same amount of money, maybe a couple c-notes more.

There was a test that showed that a crappy processor, with a good video card and ram can handle games. I don't know a whole lot about computers. I found an Acer with 2.2 Ghz and a 64 mb X700, but I think the 6800 owns the X700. Am I right?

I need the laptop as I'm going to India. I can't take a desktop with me. This laptop seemed like the best deal. It has a good graphics card and plenty of ram.

Anyone know a better laptop under $1,500?

But will I be able to play BF2 on it, with medium settings and no AA. I saw a benchmark for the 6800 GO. It ran Doom 3 on high and 1280 x 800 @ 55 FPS.
Don't know about BF2 though.

Not worth it on a laptop. If your playing on a laptop you shouldn't be concerned about getting into the next map first. Thats pretty much all 2 gb's of ram will give you. Its overkill everywhere else. I have a single gig in my workstation/server and it runs fine. Thats BF2, BF2CC, XFire, Apache, MySQL, MDaemon(mail server), GuildFTPd, UnrealIRCd, and a few more various server programs running. All that with 1 gb ram and it runs fine! The one thing that would be handy would be a second AMD processor.

For the topic poster I would suggest selecting the less detailed monitor(savings of $100) and going one notch higher with the processor. For an extra $40 then you get 533 FSB instead of 400 which should help more.

If you want something that will last you a while, a sager 5720 is where the best bang for the buck is. Alienwares are really overpriced for what they sell. the sager 5720 can be configured for a little over $2000. I realize that's more than your $1500 but a 7800GTX go just blows the doors off everything else out right now. a 6800 isn't all that fast any more. The bottlenect in laptops in terms of performance is the graphics card because as of now they aren't really upgradable so that what the longevity of you notebook will be based on. food for thought if you plan on keeping it and gaming with it for a while.
