    upgrade question

Hello everyone i just wanted some advice about an upgrade to my computer system listed in my sig...I only have enough money to upgrade the ram or Hard drive....i would get another 1gig set of the stuff i already have or get another WD250 sata2 and set it up with raid1 with my current hard drive....I am leaning towards the ram because i think that it will give me a better performance in BF2 but tell me what you guys think...thanks

I'd go for the memory. But why raid 1? That concerned about your data?

How many dimm slots do you have? You should probably buy 2 1gb dimms and sell the 512's on ebay.

Well the reason i wanted to go raid1 was because i have heard that when you have the two hard drives set up that way that they actually can perform faster because the same info is written on both drives they can access and load the information faster at least thats what i have heard as for my dimm slots i have 4 so i would be able to just add the same memory without haveing to sell my old stuff

That's an easy one. Get the RAM.

Thats RAID 0 (striped), RAID 1 is mirrored for data security.

I setup a RAID 0 array with 2x WD raptors 10,000 RPM, they were small 36gb ones, but after doing so I noticed benchmarks showed little performance increase in load times during games, its better to go for larger drives which are inherently faster, the new 150Gb WD 10,000 Raptor is out now, worth getting for speed I hear.
