Started a new thread since I have a new problem.

Old problem was I could not play BF2SF Multiplayer maps.

New problem is that I cannot Un-install BF2SF in order to reload it.

When I try to un-install I get an error that goes ">Setup DLL\SetupDLL.cpp(469) pAPP:Battlefield 2 :Special Forces... then it has a few more lines and ends with @windows XP Service Pack 2 (2600) IE 6.0.2900.2180. I then click OK and then get an Insta Shield error that tells me to check internet connection, empty my temp folder, and shut down back ground programs before trying setup again, error -5001. I do that and same same. Tried using my PC remove programs and same situation.

Help. If my experience with EA support is anything like it was in the past I will get forwarded to a FAQ list that has nothing to do with my problem. If I email them I will have the same chance of hitting the powerball as to getting a response other than a bot one.

I am assuming that you can't just install SF over itself? I would think that uninstalling BF2 would solve that problem. Then it has to be reinstalled in this order: BF2 > BFSF > Patch 1.2.

Also, there is a thread here describing the process for manually uninstalling the program files and reg entries.

Found the recipe for manually removing the games on the EA website. The instructions were well laid out and I was able to remove the BF2SF. I degragged, reloaded BF2, did a restart, did a degrag, installed BF2SF, did a restart, did a defrag, spent all day downloading the 1.2 full patch, installed it, and got onto a BF2SF Multiplayer map.

Still don't know what happened with the incremental patch nor the Insta Shield uninstall program, but it all works now.
