    BF2 Memory Failure

OK, this is just plain wierd.

Out of the blue, BF2 CTDs. Waiting for me on the desktop is message with a load of numbers and saying something about a sanity check as the memory BF2 is using is - and I quote - 'insane'.

WTF is going on? I'm currently running 2GB of RAM if that helps.

That is a strange error message. Are you sure you weren't drunk at the time? But seriously, is your swapfile disabled or fragmented or located on another drive?

I was definatly sober, and i don't even know what a swapfile is, so I wouldn't know it to do anything to it. As for fragmented, I defragged a couple of days ago, and everything is located on the same drive.

      Just plain wierd.

        Re: BF2 Memory Failure

About the only thing I can think of is perhaps another program tried to launch (keyboard commands perhaps) and the error came from that other application. In this event, the coder who wrote the message has quite a sense of humor. I would get concerned only after it happens again.

It wouldn't hurt to scan for virus however.

Right, it's happened again. And again. In fact everytime I try an join a server running a EF map.

But this time - I've got a picture.

            Any ideas?

            Oh come on!

If you google for "bf2 memory.dll sanity check" you will find a lot of other threads. Most seem to suggest (a) virus check (b) spyware check (c) memtest86 (d) ensure pagefile is big enough (e) reinstall game

I got this after installing SF... pretty sure its system ram related... I had 3 DIMMS - two 256 that were matching pair and an additional 1GB DIMM that had different specs and timing.

Yes there are other posts about this, one said he went into BIOS and dropped the ram timing down a bit and never got the error again. I did that and after reboot windows would not load (missing or corrupt system32 dir!) I ended up reformatting and reinstalling windows...
