Possible cure for some ATI cards!

Hello! After installing the 1.2 patch, my graphics went to s**t! (See earlier post...2/19) I tried everything I could think of, as well as suggestions from other very helpful people from this forum and many others!

I decided to try different drivers, after all I had nothing to loose! I had the latest ATI catalyst drivers installed and removed them and installed the newest Omega drivers from OmegaDrivers.net. They not only fixed my problem but seemed to improve perf. as well! Prior to the patch everything ran smooth and very fast at 1024X1280@70hz(high res quality + x2AA). Its back to normal again! Weh Hew!!!

I hope that this might help some of you that lost bldgs. and high res. settings,
it did for me!

hmmmm, this is interesting, I too have seen my BF2 turn to crap after installing the 1.2 patch and I have also tried everything suggested, except this. I am downloading new drivers now, although I suspect as I have a 92 series card I will be off to the shop to get something better tomorrow. This whole business sucks big time and is really annoying. I would have thought with all the trouble people are having with this patch EA would have been right on it......

Hmm, that new driver installed fine but won't run, it says select a place to put extracted files and i use the default and it just goes to a box which has the name of the driver "rax" then some numbers, or something like that.

No problem installing the new drivers, extracted to a temp folder and then ran the installer from there, but I still have the same issue, sound stutters and total lag in-game, it is completely unplayable. This will have to go on the backburner till EA releases a new patch or unless someone comes up with a workable fix. So far I have tried new vid drivers, adjusting the sound properties in-game, adjusting the vid properties in-game, a complete re-install including the obligatory stripping of the registry and installation of the full patch. I've run out of ideas after hacking away at this for most of the weekend, time to throw in the towel unless someone comes up with something new :hmm:

I had the same card and have had no graphical Issues since 1.2 but the peeps with 9000 series might like to completly uninstall their drivers and reinstall an alternative (Either Omega's or 5.11's, 5.13')

im pretty sure theyre safe..ive been using 3rd party drivers for a couple of months and they;re suppose to help with fps but the change isnt noticable..but they should be safe/reliable

When you were having this extreme lagg issues right after the patch, do you remember having a very bad ping even on servers you knew should have had good pings?

ok so i notice none of you guys posted you card specs- radeon 9250 128 mb agp-----will this work for the lower end models- i hope so cuz this game is ****ing with my mind already, and i get made fun of on a daily basis by my clanmembers , and now im back to playing halo and **** like that
So im going to try this and i'll be back with the results soon

Well, the topic creator uses a x700 and not a 9000/9200 series card, so I won't get my hopes up.

guys im sorry to say..but i think the problem with 9200 cards is that it doesnt support 2.0 pixel shaders and i tried this with my own fx 5200 and forced 1.4 shaders and i get the invisible buildings..but if i let it run on 2.0...its fine..
