So, has anyone else noticed their ping go through the roof on servers they have had in their favorites list or otherwise? I didn't think anything of it, until it started happening all at once after the 1.2 release.

Re: Lag and Ping
patch requires more memory because of what DICE did to loading mesh files (the y made it so that the game uses more memory to load mesh files = less loading time) and this is also the case in servers. Most server companies are not that rich and can not afford to upgrade their server, and let me tell you this, it's very expensive to upgrade the server since it costs around $10,000.
That's why the pings has gone up. It's definetly not because of a bug in the patch, it's because of the fact that the game uses more memory and more hardware resources.
Btw, i haven't had any problems ping-wise. Maybe because I have a 2 GB DDR2 (667 Mhz).

I have 2GB of Ram, I think it might be a memory leak. The server I go on has a ping of 10-40 but after playing for a while everything starts lagging up and i get kicked for a high ping. Restart the game and its fine again.Originally posted by maranellopatch requires more memory because of what DICE did to loading mesh files (the y made it so that the game uses more memory to load mesh files = less loading time) and this is also the case in servers. So it seams to me EA might have created some sort of memory leak with this patch.

It can be 333, 400, 533, or 667 Mhz. There is a huge difference. So if it was regular 333 Mhz RAM, even though in storage its 2 GB, in speed, its equivalent to 1 GB of 667 Mhz.
Also, what is your video card and CPU?

Re: Lag and Ping
your hardware has nothing to do with latency otherwise called ping. ping is simply the ammount of time that it takes data to travel from your computer to the server. 100 ping = 100MS = 100 miliseconds. might be something else(that is causing your ping to go high).. now if you're talking about fps, thats a diff story

Re: Lag and Ping
I haven't noticed any difference with 1.2, but I got a 20MBit/2MBit cable connection, so it could be that in 1.2 the bandwithload is higher, but I won't notice that anyway. I still got exactly the same pings as I had before, they just seem a bit more stable now and then.

Re: Lag and Ping
30-40 ping. LOL
Wish I had that problem.
When I scan for servers the lowest I ever get is 94.
As soon as I connect they jump above 100.
When I check in game for ping its usually above 100.
I am playing on a dsl line
Any thoughts on why that might be. I have been doing some research at download.com, but haven't found anything significant yet.

Re: Lag and Ping
Its not a ram problem, same thing happens if i put everything on low, its perfectly fine (better in fact) for the first hour then everyone else starts to lag, I myself dont seam to be laggin but everyone else on the screen is. then I get kicked for a high ping. Its defenetly a patch problem because as I said i never had this problem before the patch.Originally posted by maranellowhat kind of 2 GB RAM do you have?
