Barrett M95 question

i have a quick question regarding the range on the barrett.
for the LONG shots, at what range is it neccisary to use the distance compensator in the scopes view.. in dragon valley, i'll get to the hill across the water from the carrier with the M95, but i cant hit a dam thing on the boat. ive tried different lines in the scope, but nothing works...PLEASE HELP, if you can........thanks

The middle where the cross meets, the first line below it is for the 500 meter mark. So depending at what range you are, probably 200 meters , so I'd say, 1/3 from middle to first bar under the middle, lol, oh, my English is so bad, sorry, hehehehehe.
