1.2 Patching fails

I have a problem with the new patch. All the patches I downloaded used to say "Patching failed", but now the patching just stops when it says "Processing: bf2.exe" and then the window disappears without any message. Does anyone have any idea why this is happening and what should I do?

I have reinstalled the game, dowloaded from several different locations, tried both full and incremental patches, played with the registry, tried everything with bad results. :wall: I don't seem to be the only one with this problem, so I hope someone comes up with a solution soon.

I have a brand new PC, GeForce 7800GT, AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800+, 1 GB of RAM and so on.

I have seen others reporting this same problem where the patching stops at bf2.exe, so please, there must be someone who knows these things. Any suggestions are welcome, I might not have tried something.

If you used a ***** that replaces or alters BF2.exe, then the patch will not update the .exe file.

If you used imagecfg to set bf2.exe to see just one CPU core then that would have same effect.

Try the patching in "Safe Mode" Get to it by restarting your PC, pressing F8 I belive then boot in safe mode..Install the patch then your on your way. Hopefully it works, I use it to install everything like thta :)

I have the same problem as you, i have now tried for 3 days to fix it, i have read so many forums so i think my eyes will start bleeding soon but i havnt find a way to fix it i have email EA but they cant help. i think we will have to wait for 1.21

Good luck with patching in safe mode. I installed and patched in safe mode and it still didn't work.

And it took over an hour to install and fail the patch.

Well, I tried the 1.21 patch today. Didn't work. It stopped at "Processing: bf2.exe", as usual and then the awesome message appeared: "Patching failed."

I just can't figure out what's going wrong. Are there any new solutions I might have missed?

I can play with the 1.12 patch, and I'm playing TES4 most of the time anyway, but I would still like to get what I have paid for.

Maaorava, the latest patch is 1.22, so try using that one.

I'm mainly looking for a solution for the bf2.exe problem(I'm assuming there's something wrong with the file), but I could always try the latest patch and fail miserably. :laugh: I know the new patch can't be better. It's a patch, and there's one thing I've learned about patches for this game - they suck. :p

What I find weird, though, is that it's only these new patches that don't like me.

If the bf2.exe file is, as I'm assuming, somehow damaged, do you think that getting an already patched bf2.exe from my friend would be worth a try?
