Play BF2 Online Now! (Not Quite)

I timed myself. From the time I click the Play BF2 Online Now icon, it takes 6 minutes and 30 seconds to actually spawn in game ready to play.

Thats a long ass time, in my opinion. And actually, I got lucky the map did'nt cycle when when trying to join that happens allot.

I spend more time stareing at "Loading Complete. Verifying client data." Than I do playing sometimes.

How long does it take everybody else?

What can you do to speed this up?

I already disabled the intro movies.

Never click BF2 Play Online. Takes 2 minutes 21 seconds for me, but I know I can get it faster.

i'm sure it's all relative to the speed of your cpu, video card, HD's and motherboard, so it's hard to compare on my 2500+ amd it takes longer to varify client data than anything else.

It seems that the Play Online Now button makes it find the worst server possible and fail to connect to it.

I accidently clicked it once and ended BF2.exe after about 2 minutes.

I clicked it once, I couldn't wait any longer so I bashed Clt + Alt + Esc or Windows button + D and everything and then my pc crashed. Worst Feature ever. I demand they take it out.

Use the proper icon to start the game "play online now" simply auto chooses your server and takes it seet time about it as well, perhaps it scans refreshes all the servers seperatly or something?

if you use the "Battlefield 2" icon instead it loads up in a few seconds (if you deleted the movies as you state) and then a server refresh can be very quick as well with filtering options (use a maximum of 6 or it sometimes ignores them)

You can certainly be ingame in less then a minute this way (the proper way)

Yeah, I normally start BF2 by using the normal shortcut and searching for a good server, ,etc. Sometimes, it just takes forever to connect into a game. Mainly the verifying client data part is most annoying.

I know that Play Now! feature isn't worth a damn. I was just bitchin just to bitch.

The Play Now! icon is a bigger joke that Dice played on the consumer. It wasn't enough for them to release BF2 (beta) as a stable build (listen carefuly, and you can already hear the guys in Sweden snickers when I said "stable build"), but they decided to frustrate the first time BF2 player with this utterly UBER useless icon (this is a step above them linking this icon to the "uninstall BF2" exe).

play now feature is useless, dont use it. it will even let you in empty servers wit 1 player on it...

Yes dont use it. They should release a patch that has an arrow pointing to it with caption "Please dont click"
