    BF2 1.2 Patch Crash

I installed the 1.2 patch and im in the game and 10 minutes later my whole comp crashed. I then did it again same thing. I reinstalled bf2 and its patches twice. After the crash it restarts my comp and the monitor resolution changes to 800x600. Do you think its my monitor? This never happened before I downloaded the patch.

Video driver my guess. But Punk Buster/Zip drive, drivers are know to have this type of crashing problems upon entering a server. But they don't resize the screen.

    Replace you video drivers.

Do you have tv-out enabled? If not check anyway, because you might not be aware of it.

With some drivers I have to disable tv-out to get BF2 to run, your symptons are similar to mine.

After the first crash disable tv-out in ati/nvidia driver control panel, then restart Windows.
Alternative to restart is a bit tricky. Go into display properties, extend the desktop to second screen press apply or OK and then disable extend desktop again.

Try posting the specs of your PC, look in the sticky thread here in Support Forum called Support Forum Rules: READ FIRST!.
Then it is easier for ppl to help you unless they have telepathic abilities.

Try posting your specs as suggested in the link I gave you. It differs from nvidia to ati where tv-out is.

Okay the you probaly installed the ATI Catayst with Control Center (and not the old style control panel) right?

Open Catalyst Control Center and look in Display Manager, there a screen shot of CCC here:
http://www.tweakguides.com/ATICAT_5.html and information about ATI drivers in general. The link is for page 7 of guide, probably a good idea to read the entire guide.

You disable/enable TV-out or other extenal monitors by dragging the display icon the from the Additional Displays to the grey box to the right of Main:, look here:

Also make sure that the regular windows way of enabling secondary displays don't have extended the primary onto it.
Click on display with 2 on it an make sure Extend this... isn't selected.

(This the the check box you can enable and disable to save you from doing a restart mentioned earlier.)

Have you tried doing as suggest in readme.txt of the game:
                      - CHANGING DISPLAY MODE
Occasionally on some video cards you may be allowed to set the
display mode to one not supported by your computer. This will result
in a black screen being shown. To remedy this use the Windows
Explorer to find and delete the directory:

                      \My Documents\Battlefield 2\Profiles\

This will reset your game to the default settings. You can
now start the game, retrieve or create a new profile, and re-adjust
the settings using the Menu as normal.

Did you try doing the deletion of profiles I mentioned two post above??

Try being a little more informative in your replies, instead of just help!!, the more you try yourself and give feedback on, the more ppl can (and are willing ) to help.

The reason I ask is because the profiles aren't deleted when you uninstall BF2, you have to explicitly select that option when you uninstall.
So if you installed BF2 and old profiles are still there, the problem remians no matter how many times you reinstall.

You could also try reinstalling your video drivers this way:

I fail to see any mention of profile deletion in any of the previus post here... :p

I deleted the profiles and it still happened. I also got a Creative Soundblaster PCI card. Could this cause the problem?
