BF-2 crashes during loading at 60%

Guys need help here, since patch has come out I cannot play. My system loads up to 60% of the map then crashes to desktop. It doesn't even get to verifing client data.

Happens with either BF-2 or Special forces.

Tried initially with incrimental patch no joy.
Tried with full patch no joy.
Cleaned off all old ATI drivers and updated, no joy.
Removed both BF-2 and SF, reinstalled and patched with full patch

System was running like a raped ape before this patch.

Please help me get back into the game...

P4 3.2
2 gig
ATI X850 Plat
30 Gig Hd space.

I saw several threads similar to this one but they were after the guys entered into the game and crashed.

Delete cache for your video card in bf2. and let it redetect shaders.

Already did that as shaders have been reoptimized.

welcome to my world buddy,
i have sent the last 3 days trying to fix this game , when the new patch came out 1.2 i decided to reinstall. it begun as nothing would patch for me so i did like 5 reinstalls of bf2. Then when all that failed i decided that reformatting my computer would fix it , still the patches failed, so i decided (after another 6 installs) to patch it with 1.12 and then the incrumental patch, and it worked out fine.

now everytime i try and load a map it crashes me to desktop at "Geometries" around 60%, i have reinstalled twice after that and it still crashes to desktop.

this happened to me when i first bought the game also, i think a reinstall fixed it back then ... i cant remember???

Exact same thing happening to me. BTW, I tried to attach a DX diagnosis but it's too big to upload.

Hmm sounds almost exactly what I am seeing. I was just in the Program files snooping around. Found something interesting, a patch error file. I have no idea what this file is for and I will wait for my computer smart kid to come home before I mess with it. all I know is his system patched just fine and it dosen't have that file.

Could you kinda give us a synopsis of your diagnosis?

Realy want to get back into the game as I have several TWL matches in the next couple days...

Thats the only time BF2 pauses for me on 60% when i delete the cache or update drivers, which means its a video problem ? . I never use the full download ATI. I just use the driver. Download just the driver, get driver cab remover, Delete cache. Uninstall driver & controll panel stuff. reboot safemode F8, run driver cab remover and select just ATI & remove, reboot ( normal mode )when it detects. Cancel and run install with only driver and try ! Allso update direct X

Hey bud, i got the same problem and reinstalled and updated stuff no luck. Just that after 10 minutes while in game it crashes for me. help us!

Okay guys my 17 yr old has resolved the issue. After 5 clean installs and the downloading of the patch from ultiple sites my system is now up and running thanks for the support. Note he didn't format he simple had a clean install and got lucky.

persistance pays,, i ended up reinstalling a few hundred more times, and yes it works,, i had to patch with 1.12 then the 1.2 incrumental, and then i made sure the game and my desktop resolutions were different (firs time i did it and thegame worked???)

everything seems to be 100%

accept the fact that sometimes when i am loading into a server,, at around about .... . . 30% (or something like that) the hourglass thing pops up with that error message sound and it says something like "94328 memory error/948 doesnt seem sane."

which ultimately crashes me to desktop.... so if someone knows how to fix this plz tell..
