After 60 hours of piloting a chopper I decided to try out the gunner's seat more often. As a pilot, i always expected my gunner to take out enemy choppers with the first missile. I was not very pleased when he missed the 3rd time
Now, after 10 hours of gunning, I realized that hitting a helicopter with the TV missile isn't that easy I always thought. OK, i don't talk about hoovering choppers or transport choppers, i will shoot them down easily. But for moving attackchoppers, or nose-to-nose shots (especially vs. AH-1Z, because it's so damn thin), i need at least 3 tries, but most of the time we die before i can hit it, because the enemy gunner hits us first
I had a lot of pro-gunners, who shot down really every chopper with the first tv-missile, no matter what it was doing. My question goes to all this gunners: What are the best ways to hit attackchoppers with the TV-missile in the different situations (moving fast around, nose-to-nose etc..)
(Should I aim for the cockpit or below/above, is it better to click like mad from the first second or should the missile be redirected less often, or only the last few moments, should i lead a moving target or click directly onto it, is it better to keep the missile a bit right away from a nose-to-nose target and redirect it sharply to the left right in front of it etc.)
