SF free unlocks and 1.2 ??

Hi all,

I am so fricken confused about this. I am fairly new to BF2 and have just started reading through these forums (and indeed this is post #1 for me). I read that when you buy SF, you are given to your BF2 account 2 immediate unlocks. Reading other posts there seems to some depedancy on which rank you are and possibly something has changed with the new patch. Searching other posts have only made things worse, so here are my basic questions:

I am a Sgt
I am now running 1.2 patch

Q: If I buy SF, play my regular BF2 profile in SF, then switch back to regular BF2 I will have *TWO* unlocks waiting for me even if I am running the new patch?

Q2: The weapons available will include the "teir 2" weapons from SF and some new weapons delivered with the 1.2 patch?

3 unlocks. At least I got 3 when I first played SF.

1. To get your unlocks, just record at least 1 point to your profile on a Special Forces map. Basically, just finish a round and then give it a few minutes to update. The game version you're running shouldn't make a difference as to whether or not you get your free unlocks.

2. Hrmm... I don't know what you're saying for #2 so I'll just generalize my response.
In Special Forces, you only get the stock guns and the regular unlocks (G36C, L85A1, etc.). The ones like the SCAR-L, MP-7, G36E and so on are the Special Forces unlocks. These ones can only be used in vanilla BF2. The reasoning behind this is that the SF unlocks are all British SAS weapons, therefore it would be reduntant to have a G36E to unlock for a British medic. EA just went retarded on the new weapons though. Apparently they're only available in vanilla BF2. You'd think they would have replaced the SAS' weapons with the new ones (since the sniper and AT kits are just the American weapons) but nope. That would be just plain too intelligent for EA.

Three?! Just from playing SF?? At what rank were you when you got them?

So there is no requirement to doing this before patching to 1.2 (I still have a machine running 1.12 if so)? I thought I read inference to this.

For number 2, I understand that the teir 2 unlocks, as I have seen them called, are only unlocks for plain BF2. I guess what I am really asking is, did they add any new weapons to be unlocked in the 1.2 patch?

The two new guns are for unlocking in vanilla BF2, not SF, if that's what you're asking.

ok, tried it and got no love

So here's what I did;

Installed SF on to by BF2 1.2 patched machine
Couldn't play because of "unmodified content" error
Unistalled SF and BF2
Reinstalled in this order: BF2 -> SF -> 1.12 patch -> 1.2 incr patch
Played SF on a ranked server, gained 2 points, then closed down SF (I didn't finish the round, and I just noticed Sovetskeey's comment to actually finish the round...)
Fired up regular BF2, checked my BFHQ and no new unlocks

Damnit, so what did I do wrong? Is it just that I didn't finish the round in SF?

Stats only get recorded at the end of the round. That's why :)

play for a whole round in sf, then go back to vanilla bf2 and should have the unlocks pop up. If not, wait an hour or so and try looking again.

You probably could log onto your account on someone elses computer that has SF installed to get those unlocks without buying SF.
