No idea if this is the right place for this, as it isn't about BF2 problems, its about Steam problems anyway I will detail the problem as much as I can.
I have been having a problem with Steam, Valves Steam software, I have most Valve games on my Steam account, but I can't connect at all, I get the error message saying:
Just to add that I have had this problem for 5 + months now.
Okay so I contacted tech support, but they offered me things I had already tried, such as turning off DMZ on the router, when it was already off, they say the only thing they have left to offer me is to directly connect myself to my modem which I tried and didn't get a connection ''limited connectivity'' was what I got. Anyway they say all they can offer me now is to contact my ISP.
So I have been on the Steampowered.com forums looking for answers on this problem, there is alot of people with this problem, some solve it by turning of DMZ etc, others like me have a more complexed issue of this problem, and people on the forums aren't really happy with the service of Valve, Link (http://forums.steampowered.com/forum...5&pagenumber=1) to one of the many threads on this problem.
Okay some of the things I have tried:
. Turning off firewall (Windows firewall already off)
. Deleting clientregistry.blob
. Re-installing Steam (plus deleting entries from registry)
. Installing from my HL2 and CS CZ, HL1 cd's
. Defragging HD
. Opening ports on router
. Opening ports on Firewall
. Turning off Anti-virus
. Rebooting modem and router
. Switching cables on router
. Checking DMZ was off (which it was)
. Checked for spyware/viruses/adware etc (nothing)
. Tried winsock fix
. Booted in safe mode
. Booted in safe mode + networking
. Checked IE for errors
. Installed to a different directory
. Change password of Steam account
I have only included what I can remember I did ^ so some stuff I have missed out no doubt as I forgot.
No I did not hack or cheat with Valves games ever therefore not banned.
No my account did not get hacked as I was able to change password.
There is nothing wrong with my internet connection as I can play other games online like BF2, get a nice ping and no lag from ping.
Yes my drivers are all up to date, and Steam worked before then it suddenly died for some reason.
I sent a msinfo32 report to tech support they told me they do not see anything wrong with whats installed in my system, and nothing should be causing these problems.
So my question is can anyone help? as I know there are probably people here who are computer network pro's or even people who might have had this problem and know a fix.
