b: on non-fatal hits.. had somewhat of a shock/ disorenting effect.. like you hit a guy in the leg or something and.. if only for half a sec.. hes unable to keep firing or is slowed or... SOMETHING..

Doesn't a hit slow a person's speed down, or am I thinking of DOD:S.

Whatever, if I want a one shot kill I'd just spawn camp with my trusty M95 or M24 and pop ya in the skull as you stand there. :nerr:

I guess its a "game" thing.. its not at all realistic.. everybody knows it.. but if it was realistic people would exploit it i guess...

ive also noticed that a headshot.. to the BACK of the head..with the sniper rifle is very many times not fatal... even at point blank range.

I seldom play online, i dont have times.. i.e. i have a life, car payment, house payment.. full time job.. so I only have a few hours a week to play, so going online is bad enough when im up against a bunch of you kids who still live at home and play this 24/7.. im cannon fodder.. lol, not to mention 99% of the games i find myself on are ********.. the usual people jumping all around exploiting or "gaming the game" as it were.. just a run around frenzy free for all anyway....

yea, i can see the reason for having the sniper rifles weak as they are.. they opted to do this insted of incoperating some wavering or inaccuracy to the weapon (I agree the no shake aim and the pinpoint precision of the game rifle is pretty dumb)

I wish they would have lessened the accuracy and gave you a little more crosshair movement.. insted of just crapping on the damage.

Make it so that if the person is less than 100m away THEN chest shots should be one shot kills. At least 50m, granted it's easy to take out your pistol and fire off 2 rounds for the kill... most of the time anyway.

When you've only got time to fire off one shot it's a bit annoying to see a giant plum of smoke explode from their chest and they riddle you with bullets a fraction of a second later.

I couldn't care less if they didn't because sniper isn't meant for close quarters anyway, would just be nice to have not-so-pathetic defences up close.

I hear yah, playing FPS online that allow jumping can be rough for people with real lives. Everyone pussing out and proning at the first site of a shoot out doesn't help either

Anyway...

Two thoughts:

1. Seriously, since you don't play online that much go grab the reality mod, you'll love it. http://www.realitymod.com/ Make sure to give them a few days, the new patch caused some problems and they are in the process of cleaning things up.
(for extra fun add the coop mod (http://users.on.net/~codebasher/) to the reality mod, in order to up the number of bots and size of the maps in single player... just be carefull with how many bots you allow, your system needs to be "s-s-s-smokin'!" to handle more than 14 on 14, but it's still better than 8 on 8 :))

2. Check out Rainbow Six 3: Raven Shield if you are looking for some real nice sniper action with actual body mass kills. No vehicles, but it does have lots more guns, lots more options on loadout, and anyway, the M82A1 is in it, you have to love that. Also if you would choose to go online, hit up some sniper only maps and you will actually stand a chance. The way RVS is set up, although you won't rule the world, new players have a chance against vets. Kinda like real war, yah know, since no matter how good a soldier you are, if the other guys fires first... you're dead.

Thats interesting....when I enlisted sniper was not an MOS. Sniper school is by selection not by choice. Candidates are selected based upon psychological profiles and marksmanship qualifications not because they want to be a sniper.

...you're kidding me right. I list an MOS as "Sniper" and you people suddenly flip into reality?

Who in the hell said I was active military!? It's a friggin' Unit structure, that's all. Dang. I think folks are just grasping hard for somthing to flame about these days.

No. I'm not currently active military. I will be joining the Marine Corp. as of 2007 when I have my BA of CS. As of now, I'm just another civilian who enjoys playing with firearms.

Don't know where you people got the whole "Active Military" from. Don't think I even mentioned that, or claimed to be.

Sheesh... give me a break.

Should we go back to DC where I could shoot an enemy in the toe with the .50 cal and get a kill. If so, lets just all be snipers.

Also, do you recall ever killing a pilot with a .50 cal like you CAN now? I didn't think so.

With the recent sniper change I think they are too powerfull. Stupid if people would get spawn camped by a sniper that was killing with one shot each.

And yeah the game is not intended for complete realism. Sure its emulating real life vehicles and physics etc, I feel whoever gets shot first at any time would always lose if you had blurred vission or unable to sprint. After all it is still an arcady game and is meant for continuous gameplay never stop moving allways doing something, pretty **** if you couldnt walk for a few seconds every time some twat shot you in the leg from under a car.

Thanks to the 1.2 patch you could probably shoot straight up while spinning around in circles and doing the cha-cha and the bullet would still hit the mark.
Sounds like you just need more practice.

I agree that being shot at should disturb you in some way, a perfect example of this is the Americas Army. You get totally lost when hit by any weapon. For those who haven't played AA can refer to CS when you get shot in the head.

Play Joint Ops. by novalogic, there is a reason you can't kill people in one shot.

(Love NovaLogic, through them I was introduced into the world of onloine FPS through Delta Force 2 and there famous search and destroy mode )

JO had the best sniping hands down until the patch. Talk about nerfing a product. I told Joel he should make class limits (limiting the number of a certain class) a server option, but he had his own (absurd) ideas how how to fix the game. It sealed the fate for the 2nd best online game ever. Bravo Nova. :dead:

The sniping in BF2 is complete joke. Anyone hit anywhere with a 95M would be in shock because half of their body would have been removed. It's not an anti personnel weapon.

I don't think they're quite that accurate, (although the PKM fits your description!)

The sniper rifles are fine how they are, their accuracy since 1.2 is how they should have been from the start. You can still miss, but the shots that should hit, do.

I play a lot as sniper, and although in RL an M95 would mess you up with one shot, no matter where you were hit, I would hate to see a "kill with one shot to body" sniper rifle. Can you imagine how many people would play as sniper if it was a one shot kill weapon? ( I mean other than a headshot.)

What does bug me is getting out-sniped by a PKM or other weapon when you have the drop on them first, but I get over it. :)
