What game are you playing? BF2 already has bombers.

Fighters with only 1 bomb with a slash damage radius as now BUT with weakened properties so it cannot kill a full healthy tank nor APC. Although relatively unrealistic (LOL), it will give infantry a chance to have a "roof" over their heads. Basically. If a fighter REALLY is needed for air support it can mostly do anti-infantry bombing and needs to reload after each drop.

      Bombers leave as bombers are.

If we apply this scenario- weakened AA and old style A2A should do the trick.

Fighters need to be pushed back a bit to a semi-support role and anti-aircraft role. This will result in dogfighters flying the jets and people who wanted to bomb to fly the bombers. Since there wont be people using the bombs lethality for easy kills there will be less pointwhores on the jets. Now- using that machine gun still requires skills, but at least there will be a lot more people failing at using a jet efficiently.

Wait. This post is becoming unconstructive since people start countering my argument with "Quake 4 ideas". If you disagree with me say it in a more intelligent manner. It is not as if my ideas are unbalancing. Come on...

I don't know whether you are a jet pilot or a chopper pilot or whether flying experience between these 2 greatly differs. But as I know as a chopper pilots, having the knowledge of which AA locking me greatly helps. For actually to search which AA is locking on us, it takes more time and it actually gives the AA person more chances of shooting more missiles in which case Chopper has more difficult time to dodge missiles from AA site let alone Mobile AA who fires 4 missiles at the same time. Alcorr you as Ghost Town chopper pilot definitely knows what I mean. I definitely feel it.. Time to find which AA is locking on me DID increase to my higher death rate.

What those people are mentioning is like true bombers like A-10 not multi purpose fighters...

In real life fighters are multi purpose, they have smart bombs which lock on and guide their own way down via adjusting the fins.

It depends on what they are armed with.

Yes I know what you mean. But some of you misunderstood me .
Someone earlier gives an idea of taking out bombs from Fighter jets for balance purposes and giving the ability instead to a new class of bomber planes. When they are talking about this new class of bomber planes, I and anybody would assume a plane in which its sole purpose is to bomb ground targets and not engage air units.

WOw if F-18's is armed with harpoon missiles, I think all jet whiners would quit the game! A jet pilot armed with freefall bombs,Harpoon guided missiles, AA missiles and Cannon is overkill.

Look, chummer, I apressiate you are trying to problem solve, but this don't cut it.

Understand that AA missile tracking has been a BROKEN element since release. They are now "working as intended" (well, other than some oddness when encountering buring oil fumes).

The bottom line here is that supposed "elite"pilots are at fault for not being willing to adapt. I make no claims on being elite, but I was able to fly just fine. Sure, I couldn't own an entire map just on my own and I did get shot down... but that's expected.

It's simple. If you allow someone to get a lock on you and you have no countermeasures, you screwed up and you're going to DIE. Tough luck. Don't screw up.

Avoid AA. Don't let people get on your tail. Learn how to do break rolls. Dance the sky. Fly above AA range (it's only 300 feet!). Dive and burn for your surface kills... or learn to "pickel".

For choppers, hug the ground. Be sneaky. Don't fly in predicted areas. Don't hover cap unless you are SURE the area is clear. Be aware that you can drop flares faster than an emplacement can reload or a plane can turn around to make another pass.

I'm seeing lots of pilots doing well out there. If you can't cope with functional AA, don't fly.
