Oh I disagree. He might have spelled that incorrectly but he had a very fine point. It disturbs the game, and if you want to get on the reality side of things, I can't recall seeing soldiers in Iraq or Afghanistan playing baseball with their C4 plastiques. It's a ridiculous thought, C4 isn't even used against infantry, and if it was it would be a classic boobytrap scenario that I think is very valid and doesn't involve 'chucking' it.
Grow the **** up. It's unrealistic and it's unbalanced.
Ya great way to tell someone to be more mature. I bet that **** really drove the point home...
And don't bring reality into this. This game has very little basis in reality.

Actually, I happen to think swearing just adds spice and emphasizes certain ideas and words, but I guess that's subjective now, isn't it?
I brought reality into this as a pre-emptive strike and an opportunity to put down C4 whoring in a different light. Now, after feeling the bias that glows off of the name 'C4Whore4Eva', we'll just jump to the conclusion right now that no matter how mature and pointful and logical my or anyone else's post is- You're just not going to agree. Depending on your personality you may or may not agree with specific points, but you're probably set.
Anyways, getting back to the general public on the issue, reality does in fact play a pretty large role in BF2 despite the many unrealistic and sometimes downright cartoony features it does have. As far as gameplay goes, where it matters most-- Fun, abusing C4 and throwing it just weighs the spec ops class that much more out of imbalance and makes for really stupid scenarios that the C4 chucker just doesn't deserve a win for.
The spec ops class is not ruined, just be more creative. Set up some nice ambushes, hide it better. Be sly, like a spec ops should be..
only idiots fall for c4 traps - seriously. They are big black blobs on the ground, it's so blatant it's sad.
The problem with c4 wasn't that you could chuck it, it was that you could blow it up .5 seconds after throwing it. They SHOULD've just added a minimum amount of time before the detonator could be used. That way you can get the c4 where you want but people who see you chucking it still have time to bumble away.
I didn't see the big deal with c4 before, it wasn't a HUGE occurance, and I certainly wouldn't mind if they added the changes i mentioned above but now being able to throw c4 is just stupid.
I have always been fond of spec ops for being the slightly sneekier than most explosives expert. I was mostly Spec Ops when this game first came out and they didn't even give points for blowing stuff up.
When I started getting blown to bits in a showdown with my assault rifle ( or whatever) and them throwing C4 at me and winning the battle for the most part, the cheese began to run. I've seen people say enough times, it's an arcade game and not a sim, and I agree, it isn't a sim, but let's try to keep it atleast remotely real.
The new patch has some bugs yet again, but it's the best this game has EVER run so far in terms of balance IMO.
I've seen pages and pages of bitching with people that obviously got comfortable in their role as whatever and the patch has ruffled their feathers.
The game IS better today than it was 1.12. Try doing things other than what you do EVERY SINGLE TIME YOU PLAY A CERTAIN MAP and you may find yourself having fun again.
People claiming they are ONLY pilots. pffft. I hope your on the other team then.

Actually it really doesn't. Since you refused to respond to my other post, I'll repost it:
Ya since you know, 99.99% of REAL LIFE battlefield wounds can be succefuly treated with a blast from a defibrillator (which last time I checked...was for heart attack victims). Get hit in the head with a .50 cal round? No worries, we'll just defibrillate you back to life. Same with if you get nailed by a grenade. Defibrillators solve everything from simple migraine headaches, to missing appendages.
Cause you know thats pretty realistic.
Heres another one, .50 cal rounds...that are made entirly out of recycled plastic bottles. They can't rip through a vehicles aluminum radiator, but they sure can sting an infantryman.
Or how about the fact that a single turn of wrench can repair ANYTHING, no matter how technologicly advanced it is. Commanders radar systems goes down? No problem, just run up to it and keep turning your wrench. The fact that you put forth the effort to repair is enough for it to repair itself.
So all this is UBER realistic, but chucking a pack that weights at most 20 lbs, some 10 feet is OUT OF THIS WORLD!!!11!!1!!!
Just to continue adding to that list of "realistic" properties of the game:
* Weapons that can change fundemental charecteristics in all the time it takes to download and install a 100 mb patch.
* Parachutes for EVERYONE. No matter if your an anti-tank unit, or a SpecOps, every soldier requires a parachute on this battlefield!
* Soldiers have legs of a donkey. They can jump 4 feet off the ground, even with some 60+ lbs of gear on there backs.
* AA missiles are also made up of recycled plastic bottles, and thus require atleast two hits to take down jets (and even more to take down those titanium encrusted chops!)
* Mastering the art of flying a jet/heli requires a player to sit down and play the game for all of a few hours. Gee I wonder if its that easy in real life (boy oh boy, I bet the Pilots Union would be excited about this).
*Chucking a med pack, is also enough to instantly revive someones health. If it even touches them, its enough to have a drastic effect on there longevity. Got cancer? Let me throw this med pack at your face. That should do the trick.
Doctor: I'm sorry son, but the results came back positive. You have HIV.
Patient: Oh god no!
Doctor: But I have some good news!
*Doctor chucks MedPack at patients head*
Patient: Ouch! What the hell was that for?
Doctor: HEY! HEY! HEY! Don't question my practice! I'm the doctor here! Besides, this is reality were dealing with man! What, did you think I was going to operate or something? Hell no, I have more important things to do, like fix my car with this magical monkey wrench.
Patient: Incoming, Artillery!
Doctor: Be advised of a supply drop on your location.
Patient: God damn C4 noobs!
VERY little about this game has basis in reality. Its down right silly to argue otherwise (though I'm sure, you will try anyways).
The whole not being able to jump/throw med packs is such a peeve. Yesterday I was playing on Gulf of Oman and was trying to help defend a flag. A teammate was inside the upper level of the bunker and I was behind. He got hit and was hurt by an enemy APC that was sitting out front. Before the patch, I could've jumped and thrown a med pack up through the window to him, but instead had to venture out to the front by the ladder only to get gunned down by the APC.
classy.
If you can jump/throw grenades, why not med and ammo packs?
I thought you could, somebody told me I was wrong, they were right.
But C4 traps are still possible, you just have to bother to do it right. Take Karkand's forward MEC spawn. It has arches. I put my C4 the other side of the arches and then the enemy can't see it.
Meh... "reality" in this game is such a loaded word. If they wanted the game to be more "real" or "true-to-life," you wouldn't be able to keep running around with only 2 bars of health left.
I don't see why they put such a restriction on throwing med/ammo packs. Unless, of course, the code behind throwing those was directly tied to throwing C4.
Proper C4 useage 101.
1.When defending a flag set up 3-5 C4 around the flag and wait. People run into the raidus and try to cap the flag go boom. GG 5 man squad, now go clear out the squad leader.
Has this been nerfed at all? I really don't think so. All the stupidity of throwing c4 when the flag is full of infantry is gone though.
2. Count how many c4 it takes to destroy a (insert commander tool here) than throw.
Has this been nerfed at all? A bit since it's slower to deploy the C4 but overall still not a bad situation.
Now anyone who is looking for kills on armor pieces seems to be over looking the fact that engineer kits mines don't go boom anymore so actual road blocks can be done now with out any fear of the engineer being totaly useless for anything that isn't fixing.
As for arcade meets realism the c4 in SOCOM us navy seals was only used for breaching doors, gates, and attaching to stationary tanks (which takes forever and a day) so i call BF2s c4 a hell of a lot more handy.
well this chance must have been done, C4 thorwing caused a lot of stuped suicide attackers and that was just annoying... C4 is meant to be blown up from save distance...
C4 is supposed to be for taking out command assets, bridges and stationary targets. That is how it fits into the game. Throwing it onto passing tanks and all manner of vehicles was making the special forces class overpowered. If you want to be effective vs armor, take the Anti Tank class.
Pretty simple really, people just can't understand why they can't have their one man armies anymore. My plane keeps blowing up, I can't attach my c4 to tanks from 30 feet away, I keep dieing when ppl shoot me! What gives?! I should be invincible and the winner all the time. This game sucks now. Wah wah.
