PCI vs. AGP

If in the readme of BF2 it says that a current card is supported but a PCI version in (), does this mean that ONLY PCI is supported or will an AGP version of the same card work as well.

it's the cards chip that mathers, not the bus where it is in , so if you have a card who is listed in the support , it will work, agp or pci doesn't mather

Not true. AGP vs. PCI does make a diffrence as far as BF2 goes. Of the top of my head a 9200AGP will work, but the PCI won't.

That is true but it is also true that 9200 is not listed as "supported" so rombaft is correct in at least part of his statement. 9250 seems to be the same. The GeForce FX 5xxx series is known to work in PCI and AGP with BF2 I believe (probably the 6200 PCI too if you can find one).

I have a 8x AGP interface and im lookin in to the Nvidia Geforce 6600, so far all signs point to yes. (im also planning on gettin another gig of RAM so ill be at 1.7 gigs which probably wont hurt either)

I have the 6600gt, and its PCIe, so obviously PCIe works.

could we please realise that it is AGP or PCI-Express (PCI-E)... If you are using a PCI video card, no wonder BF2 wont work on it!

(PCI-E is way way different to PCI)

(PCI-E is way way different to PCI)

There is nothing inherently wrong with PCI and BF2, just certain cards. Normally it should just be a bit slower than the AGP/PCIe versions when the onboard memory is exceeded.

lol. you'll be struggling to find a PCI graphics card with the same specs as my X850XT... Or even a 9800 pro. So basically, they suck.

We're not discussing performance, though. The fact is that they work and people do play using them.
