Somebody please help me, I've tried everything I know now, and I'm stuck. Firstly, here's my system specs:
* = It's not the problem - it ran fan pre-1.2 patch attempt.
Okay, basically I downloaded it via EA Downloader, and tried to install it. It came up with an error, so I tried to run BF2 anyway. Usual problem - Splash > Desktop. No error.
So I uninstalled everything and reinstalled it. Same problem.
So I uninstalled everything and deleted everything from the registry. Same problem again.
So I reformatted my entire PC, and tried again. Unfortunately the same problem occured. So I tried the first two steps again. Numerous times.
I wouldn't be so frustrated if you could get awards in single player and stuff, but obviously you can't, so it's really irritating.
Anyway, there was a post on EA's forum (http://support.ea.com/cgi-bin/ea.cfg...i=&p_topview=1) that suggested opening the temp file while installing and copying files across etc. So I tried it, but there's no "Patch.exe" file there, so that didn't work. I know it was for 1.12, but still, I figured the same principal applied.
Here's what the error message said when I tried installing via EA Downloader:
Windows cannot find 'C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\EA Downloader\cache\ChrsCrnll05\eagamesbf2-2006online_contentbf2euro-patch-1_2_full\setup.exe'. Make sure you typed the name correctly, and then try again. To search for a file, click the Start button, and then click Search.
.. With the option to click 'Ok'. Now, I figured that I could just go find the file, and check it was in the right place. And it was. Only it was called "bf2_fullpatch_1.2". Anyways, I double-clicked it and tried it that way. As mentioned earlier, I got "Patching failed", yet BF2 said "Patch successfully installed".
I tried everything, and no luck. I figured I wasn't alone, but the 33,135 players online contradicts that. I've tried re-downloading and all that stuff, and no luck. Please somebody help me!
