I play spec ops all the time(well 95%), and Im liking the patch on a whole. Yeh adjusting your style with tanks takes a bit of getting used to. I used to jump throw it from about 2 metres away in the general direction of the tank then baboom(I never got into the whole c4 frisbeee deal though) whereas now I need to get closer and be a little stealthier about it. I havent had the detonation issue some of you have but Ive only had about 4 hours on the new patch. Ill watch out for that one.
I think the thing that erks me the most about the limitations on c4 now is the fact that I can no longer jump up and plant c4 at the top of a flag pole in defense against choppers *sighs* Ill live though, Im hoping that the lower hit points on the choppers means the middle of the pole will be close enough.
I think thats the only thing I really havent liked about the patch so far. There were legit circumstances where a spec ops would jump and throw, but honestly for the sake of removing the c4 chuckas I can live with it.

I wasnt one to chuck it per se but ive thrown it over walls to clear out a flag or tossed it over sandbags at tanks as well as throwing it out of a gangway to clog a choke point tanks like to roll through.

It seems now c4 is and will be used as booby traps or just to put on the road as mines the days of fearing players blowing you up with it are gone.

Uh, too bad. This is how C4 was meant to be used. Do you think in Iraq the American troops were throwing C4 and ripping the detonator out of their pockets to get a mid-air C4 kill? I'm sorry, it's ridiculous. It might be clever in some scenarios but 3/4 of my deaths by C4 just leave me shaking my head.

C4 chucking? Goodbye and good goddamned riddance.

Ya since you know, 99.99% of REAL LIFE battlefield wounds can be succefuly treated with a blast from a defibrillator (which last time I checked...was for heart attack victims). Get hit in the head with a .50 cal round? No worries, we'll just defibrillate you back to life. Same with if you get nailed by a grenade. Defibrillators solve everything from simple migraine headaches, to missing appendages.

Cause you know thats pretty realistic.

Heres another one, .50 cal rounds...that are made entirly out of recycled plastic bottles. They can't rip through a vehicles aluminum radiator, but they sure can sting an infantryman.

Or how about the fact that a single turn of wrench can repair ANYTHING, no matter how technologicly advanced it is. Commanders radar systems goes down? No problem, just run up to it and keep turning your wrench. The fact that you put forth the effort to repair is enough for it to repair itself.

So all this is UBER realistic, but chucking a pack that weights at most 20 lbs, some 10 feet is OUT OF THIS WORLD!!!11!!1!!! ROOFLEZZ kibbles and bits!!!1!!

cause we all know running up to a tank and putting c4 on vs throwing it was not the way to go.

if you are a good spec ops, you do not need to throw it, because the enemy tank doesnt notice you untill its too late.

Anyways, you brought up some fine points on unrealism in bf2. Most of what you listed are things that I would like to see fixed, though some (such as engineering repairs) are required to keep the game fun and I'm very sure that few would disagree with the essentials. My point in mind being that C4 chucking happens to be one of those unrealistic things I don't like that did get fixed, so it all comes down to matter of opinion: I think C4 should be used sneakily to blow up commander assets and the occasional tank that isn't paying attention as well as setting up some creative booby traps; you think of it as a means of throwing around ridiculously like a softball so you can be a one man army and rack up some cheap kills and a spiffy ordinance badge that no one cares about. To each their own, bro. The story just so happens end in the fact that the majority of the community agrees with my opinion (along with EA/Dice) and it's tough luck for you.

Ah, I hate the nerf done to the C4. I can't plant C4 on ceilings anymore so people can't see it, nor is it possible to destroy enemy armour as it runs away from me (or low flying Helo's). Yes, I do hate people who use C4 as 'rockets' and 'grenades' but I'm not for lopping off SpecOps arms when they jump to have their C4 gain just a LITTLE bit more distance or height.

Plus- it IS a little unrealistic to make it so that people can't throw things when they jump (but of course, I understand that people have been able to throw their C4 like... 20 metres far... I DON'T agree with that).

I never had a problem with people throwing it but ... having just played three rounds on Karkand without hearing a SINGLE C4 detonation, I'm actually kinda happy for the change. Seemed a lot more fun having actual firefights with the enemy.

Yeah, I suppose I better just grin and bear it. Firefights are good anyways; not enough of those happen :p .
