Re: Any pilots PREFER this version?

yes, as I've said before in another thread, the changes to the AA will make very little difference to the pro-pilots. I played Wake Island for a couple of rounds yesterday and a pro-pilot there just took out the AA sites with cannons and then freely bombed whatever he wanted afterwards.

Jet pilots still have the heads up on manned AA sites. For starters they can tell from their radar when an AA site is manned and then react accordingly, whilst the person manning the AA site has to hope he's facing in the right direction to have chance...

You seemed to be doing doing pretty well on GameArena this morning, Oxy. I played a round against you (on Wake) and when I did look at your score, you were at least 45-0. At that point, I thought, "Right, he's going down," and ran to the nearest AA emplacement. Literally half a second after I hopped in, you tore the emplacement to shreds with the cannon.

Then I thought, "Right. Time to capture the airfield."

Re: Any pilots PREFER this version?

As for your question "any pilots prefer this version"?

        My answer is ABSO-FUXKING-LUTELY.

I had grown so sick of getting base rapped and fighting with idiots who can't fly over getting an airplane, I had about given up flying unless the plane happened to be sitting with no one around.

Noobs tking for aircraft, suicide/punishs, parking vehicles in front of the airplane, mines in front of the airplane, c4 on aircraft, getting shot by the essex,,,,,,all ******** done by people who couldn't fly anyway, but ****ed off because they couldn't get in the airplane.

All of this when we were loosing but not out of the game. Total BS.

I think most pilots have more respect for each other, they are keeping track of how many passes other pilots make, what thier score is. I have actually had a pilot say "you take it".

This patch will seperate the pilots from the people who think they can fly. Its as simple as that. When I see a guy jump in an airplane and check his stats. If hes 2 kills and 8 deaths. I'll wait for the airplane LOL. It'll be right back now. And maybe, just maybe the noob won't come running back to the spawn point to jump in an airplane he can't survive in.

The days of <lots of kills> to <few of deaths> is over, for the majority of mediocre to poorly skilled pilots.

The good ones, however, will still be there to make us gnash our teeth and say things that would make our mothers cry.

I salute you, you devious bastards of the air. To the lesser of you, get used to respawning.

There's really never been any "skill" in BF2-dogfighting. Aaaaanyway, welcome to the real world. If someone gets on your six IRL you're pretty much doomed, as it's supposed to be.

I like the fact that the air vehicles doesn't take as much damage, on the other hand, I don't like the no-skill AA. Good thing they have to hit 3 times.

I still hate the fact that vehicles, especially the AA which is lethal now, doesn't show up until you're hitting the ground with the helicopter. How is one supposed to survive?

              BS.
On rare occasions I might see another GOOD and I mean GOOD pilot on the server that I have to worry about. The rest of the time, "if" a noob gets a pre-lock all they did is tell me where they are at. So I can stop looking for them.

The good pilot is another story, that might take some real evasive action and a couple of seconds of flying to get away and get back behind them.

To drive that point home. It is "rare" to be on a server and see another good pilot. Not rare to see people jumping in airplanes and flying them though.

Autokill? Wrong. You are thinking about noob pilots and noob pilots are now officially done.

No more talking sheat about how good you think you are. If the word (DEAD) appears before your in game post. Stay out of the airplane noob.

Errr no skill, I've been accussed a lot of hacking due to my dogfighting skills, now there is no skill but before there was lots of skill.

To the point it's like a new game which is great pity about my dogfighting skills though don't need them anymore, doh

Re: Any pilots PREFER this version?

All I'm saying jakswan is most pilots have always known.

on a 64 man server. 20 of your team mates are playing the game and trying to cap flags. 12 idiots where trying to get in or where wasting airplanes they couldn't fly anyway.

On the whole. On an average 64 man server there are less than 10% GOOD pilots. Often times its the luck of the draw when the game starts because the idiots are running to jump into an airplane they already know they can't fly, but don't care and do it anyway. The good pilot has to wait and fight with the other 9 idiots on the ground waiting for the first idiot to hopefully crash or get shot down. In the rare event they got shoot down or crashed doing hairy approaches, lagged out or the phone rang. They have to start all over again.
The problem here is the idiots that think they could fly were hurting thier team either because of the tk/suicide/punishes, or just not contributing while they waited for the airplane they had no buisness in anyway.

Besides the glitches running this patch the game itself is a huge improvement over the MINE, MINE, MINE, MINE, comedy show before.

Re: Any pilots PREFER this version?

I love the fact that surface to air is a real threat now, although I hate that it was implemented in a way that requires no skill for the AA operator. 1.2 completely destroyed air to air dogfights though, and that upsets me. Now it's see a plane before they see you = free kill, even if they have a fighter, you have a bomber, and your angle of attack is ridiculous.

im a pretty amateur pilot but since the patch ive been gettin many more kills as i could never hit anything with bombs but now i kill kill anything in the air with AA missiles.

Thank you for proving my point, and reaffirming why I hate the so called "dogfighting" in 1.2.
