Can't Change Video Settings After 1.2

i always play my games on low for maximum performance. problem is, now that i have 1.2 installed, my graphics are locked at medium settings. i can change all the settings to low, but when i go in game, everything is still set for medium...

i've tried changing it and closing out of the game and reopening it, but it's still locked at medium quality. any suggestions?

i believe this isnt part of 1.2 (which is my biggest concern..ahhh major fps drops..ahh ..no buildings) but have u tried setting the OVERALL QUALITY on the top of teh video settings page to Low instead of custom? Idk if it really helps but i think it worked for me a while back..
